So, Shem-ha is the first villain that actually feels like the big, apocalyptic threat they're supposed to be
Some great animation this episode
Feels kind of odd to have Noble Red survive in weakened state for a few episodes only to kill them off like that
I was expecting things to have gotten a bit farther by the last episode. This season's been pretty dense, but I'm not sure about having the entire end boss and epilogue in a bit over 20 minutes
I get the feeling the next ep is probably Double length, at least I hope so.
Shem Ha doesn't even look phased by the new X-drive, which makes sense since it was already used on her beforehand.
Hibiki looks like an angel (even more than Maria) and I consider that to be the most important artistic choice. Shame we have to wait until next episode for a proper closeup.
Have a handsome Hibiki.
... oh yeah i have the same birthday as hibiki
forgot about that
And so, the final preview is out.
I get a 503 from that link.
Site seems to be under stress if the difficulty I'm having getting all 8 pictures to load is any indication.
Twice so far I've had it work, but failed to load one or more picture.

There's nothing interesting there. Just the girls in their x-drive forms, angry Shem-Ha in her faust robe, and Carol looking at something. Not anything you wouldn't expect
Shem-Ha seems to have taken some damage that isn't insta regenerated so we know that works. And hey, the Hibiki picture is cool as hell anyway (and answers the question of if that was a scarf.)
Also the title card looks neat.
The Keywords updated that the new X-drive form is called Blazing X-Drive, and the the United States of America are the third entity in the series that can be referred to as a God Killer. XD!
Those burnt looking hands in the last panel are pretty ominous looking, though.
I think that loses out to the whole "hands clasped in prayer against a backdrop of either blood or red light" part.
I had a kind of bizarre Symphogear related dream last night.
I don't remember all of it, but I wrote down the parts I recall when I woke up.
For some reason the final battle took place in a series of connected valleys.
Fudo got loose and somehow caused a bunch of Spongebob characters to appear and turn into giant pink berserk monsters before they somehow calmed them down. I'm pretty sure Shirabe and Kirika beat Patrick.
I have no idea what happened to Shem-Ha, but I was somewhat disappointed when Kimi Dake Ni played when Hibiki was fighting Fudo.
It then skipped to everyone around a campfire in the remains of the battlefield, but for some reason Maria wasn't there, but Ogawa was. I don't know why my mind thought this was Significant.
Also Hibiki sits down on the same chair as Miku and snuggles into her side.
Everyone promises to meet here again someday, and then the scene fades into 8 Years Later, with everyone looking older/different, and a few gaps left where people are missing.
Hibiki is much taller and has a pixie cut with black hair? Which is odd because from seeing her parents I'm sure her hair is natural.
Then Hibiki is really sad Miku isn't there, but right as the dream ended her plane appeared overhead and was about to land.
So yeah, pretty bizarre, and I'll be surprised if anything at all maps onto the finale in 8 hours.
I did learn that apparently I ship Hibimiku is my dreams as well.

Since we're almost at the series finale I think it's a good time for me to confess I didn't realize Ogawa and Fujitaka were two separate characters until AXZ.
I mean, it's a good thing to confess to but impressive to not realise.
Well, that ending is about as close to a confession as you can actually get without being one. But hey, since Hibiki made her feelings pretty clear before that, no ambiguity in that left.
They did it. They managed to create a new future. Now I'm betting that We'll get an announcement of a new generation of Symphogear users at Symphogear live 2020 to protect that future, since it seems the girl's Relics are completely gone, now.
In fairness, by the point they can do that remaking the others isn't exactly out of reach, but that wouldn't have made for a peaceful ending.
And even if they didn't directly confess to each other, I'm sure the fanfic and Dooujin writers out there can have Hibimiku get "frisky" in the snow. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
There was only one direction that conversation was headed, let's be honest. This is just to maintain deniability for the people who would otherwise refuse to buy the blurays because it's "ruined". Creepy lot.
A perfect final panel for the last hype chart.◊
Just needed a Pastel-Chalked Freeze Frame effect, though.

It's also less clear if the gears were destroyed and not just overwhelmed on second thoughts... because everybody was dressed afterwards. If they were destroyed, then presumably the clothes wouldn't have been rematerialised. Odd thought.
Alternative Gaijin Hype Chart◊.
Now its even more perfect for the last 2 panels.
