Once again, why? How many people are editing your troper page that you're worried about overwriting their edits?

You're completely missing the point, man. I mean the lock timer should be extended for the person whom that page is about, so they can write more than would normally be allowed in 20 minutes. 'Cuz not everybody's gonna speed-typing the whole time, y'know.

You could always write the page in notepad and then copy it into the edit screen.

Ya, but lengthening the clock would make that kind of tedious copypasta crap unnecessary.

Lengthening the clock is all ready unnecessary if no one else is editing your troper page. The only thing the lock does is make sure that no one can edit while you're editing. You can still hit submit after it's run out. It just keeps two people from accidentally editing at the same time and wiping each other's work out.

It's always been present. The top of the edit page had a note about "you have this page checked out until <time>", and trying to edit a page that someone has checked out returns a message about it.

The only difference between the old situation and the new one is that now there's a timer counting down.

Yes, I realize that the timer's always been there, but I was under the impression that the timer logged you out of editing once it was up.
