New Alcest album was definitely an Alcest album.
That is, it felt quite workmanlike, uninspired and overly slick, but had a nice sound and a proliferation of pretty guitar tones so it ended up pretty okay.

They're off the streets now, and back on the road on the riot trail. http://www.last.fm/user/sca_punkApparently Depeche Mode are already planning a new album. I missed Sounds of the Universe, but apparently it was lackluster. Here's hoping they don't botch it this time; I wouldn't even mind if they took their time until 2013.
Oh, and hopefully they'll come over for a second time so that I could catch them live.

According to his Reddit, we can expect a new album from Aesop Rock this year. El-P's also coming out with a new one.
From a different clique entirely. There'll be a slew of new OFWGKTA releases.
And I'd be shocked if we didn't get at least one mixtape each from Mr Muthafuckin Exquire and Danny Brown.
good year to be a hip-hop head.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineThat reminds me, was Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3 any good? I remember seeing it in Best Buy and didn't know if I should have gotten it...

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! It was almost entirely instrumental. Make of that what you will.
Mr Muthafuckin Exquire used some of it for Lost In Translation though.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineNew of Montreal album leaked. It's fantastic. Their best since Hissing Fauna (which, honestly, they aren't going to top)

3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541As do I. Anything with the tag 'avant-garde' must surely have some elements I find appealing.
- Lots of djent tings this year. Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Tesseract, Meshuggah themselves, and (with any luck) Friend For A Foe.
- New Epica album! Fuck yes.
- New Coheed and Cambria.
- New Busta Rhymes, apparently. On the flipside, new Waka Flocka Flame. Oh dear.
- New To-Mera. Should make up for Circus Maximus apparently disappearing into outer space.
Post-metal mini-orchestra Cult of Luna are recording an album and writing updates about it in Swenglish
. I've been listening to Somewhere Along the Highway recently and loving it, so I'm excited.
