I just noticed something about Godzilla The Series: In one episode, a machine pulls a Skynet and attempts to start a nuclear war by bombing Baghdad.

But it has now be proven that Baghdad had no WMDs.

What tropes fit to this? "Funny Aneurysm" Moment, Hilarious in Hindsight, etc.?

Did they specifically mention a retaliation or is the machine under the impression that if one nuke flies, they all fly (which is a commonly held theory).

Fight smart, not fair.

Also, just because a series is set "on Earth" doesn't mean it has to follow our history 100% correctly. Maybe in that reality, Iraq DID have a WMD program.

[up]Can't tell about the original, but in the French dub, the answer to "why target baghdad?" is "because they'll retaliate."

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."
