The Wizard grins, "Right, I'm sure you are, just like you didn't perk up when I entered the Tourism Center. Just admit it, you like this at least a little. I mean, there are so many other jobs you could've taken, ones far less dangerous, and I'm sure many of them pay far more."
"Find challenges fun, huh? Then you're going to love me." She ran on ahead, laughing as she did so.
And a Strange Figure Emerges."Oh yes, follow the sound of creepy laughter into the ruins of an ancient and long dead civilization! I see absolutely no way this could get us killed." Travis said, but apologized almost immediately and followed anyway.
After a few minutes of walking, the sound had become significantly louder. They were closing in on it. Or it was closing in on them. "What is that? Nothing in these ruins could possibly be alive anymore."

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialIt wasn't long before Travis and Margarita found the source of the laughter, shrouded in fog and darkness though it was. A figure, dressed in a smart 30's suit marked with metal skulls, was perched on a rock, laughing at a skeleton as though poking fun at an old friend.
At the top of a ridge, Karina abruptly stopped. As the Wizard came close, she motioned him to stop and be quiet. Down the hill, in a grove of trees, there lumbered something big and black was moving through the fog.
And a Strange Figure Emerges.Margarita crouched low as she approached the laughing figure perched on a rock. Visibility was poor, though the only thing she could make out for sure was the man's dress and the fact that he was hysterical about finding a skeleton.
Now, Margarita considered herself a fairly rational person with a pretty cool head... but this situation was beyond eerie. What was a man like that doing here? How did he even manage to make the trek to the heart of the jungle? And his actions seemed like those of a mad man.
No, for now their best course of action would be to lay low and keep observing this man... it felt just to dangerous to call out to him.
The man leaned back against the rock. He was young, but he had the motion and voice that suggested the soul of an older man. "Dey're probably watchin' me, ya know. Dose mooks t'ink I didn't here dem yakkin' a way off. C'n you imagine? Dey t'ink dey got a snowball's chance of findin' the Heart. Dumb shmucks don't know what dey're in for...Dey don't even got an inklin' what it can do."
And a Strange Figure Emerges. It wasn't long before the main group began to hear a sound like rushing water. Over a slight incline, through an arch of two trees, they came upon a great, roaring river. On the right was a waterfall that disappeared up into the foggy ceiling. The path carried on up ahead, through another botanic archway, but across the river there was nothing but a higgeldy-piggeldy trail of large stepping stones.
Karina slowly inched forwards. "...Hello?"
In an instant, the great thing span around. The large black blot in the mist made a grumbling sound, and lumbered towards the two.

And a Strange Figure Emerges."Maybe someone can cross first and you can throw me across?" Yuki suggested, looking at the awkward path across the river. It might be hard to throw a person that far but it was surely possible... especially if they all worked together. Though humans did have rather a lot of mass, so that might cause problems. At least she was light.
The great thing finally slowed down to a creep, and stepped into the (relative) light. It was a bear, big and round and fuzzy. It was completely covered in black fur, with a beige marking on its face like an apple core.
"Oh my gosh...I-I've never seen a spectacled bear up close before." Karina edged forward. "It's okay, big guy...we don't want to hurt you..."
The bear sniffed at them, slowly coming forward. It seemed curious and rather friendly, but hesitated as it looked up at the Wizard and his brush.
And a Strange Figure Emerges.Confused, the bear snorted, and pawed at its nose, trying to wipe it off. Karina couldn't help laughing at the sight, both out of a release of nervous energy, and how plain silly the poor thing looked. Once it was done, the bear came closer to the Wizard, apparently regarding him as a new friend. It nuzzled his front, getting some red on him as it did so, then tugged at his clothes with its teeth. "I think it wants to show us something," said Karina.
And a Strange Figure Emerges.

Raul: "Like the girl said: Too little space to spend the night. Plus it'll be even harder to see in this weather, and if we came across a Boa Constrictor this early on, who knows what we could run into...or what could run into us."
Karina: "Well...to be honest...you remember you asked me earlier what I was doing there, in the tourism business? It's because part of me likes doing tours like this, going out into unknown and tricky jungles and all. Gives me a sense of freedom, a sense that not everything in my life is completely average..." She almost walked into a tree. "But I prefer it when there's more to see."
