Karina Vargas was a pretty regular person, all things considered. She had a fairly common name, had no real parental issues, and was fairly satisfied with her lot in life. Of course, when just about everything is on the level, you tend to get fairly complacent. Hence, there she was, leaning on the counter of Peru tours blowing bubblegum, as her coworkers scurried about like panicked rodents. Then the strange looking fellow stepped in, and the young tour guide perked up a little.
And a Strange Figure Emerges. The Wizard steps into the center for tourism with his usual level of subtlety, that is, none at all. With a grin on his face, he looks around the place, but his gaze focuses upon the one person in the place who appears to be doing nothing, and approaches her. With a smile on his lips, he begins to speak, "What's a pretty girl like you doing working here?"
"Also, it might not be good if the people trying to help you are made deaf." Raul finished examining the wound, and got out some gauze from the bag. "Doesn't look like any teeth came out. But if you feel sick, it starts swelling, or you find it hard to breath in the next half hour, then we'll have to turn around and get you to a hospital a-sap." He started making a simple bandage for the wound.
"Why? You taking a survey?" asked the girl nonchalantly, standing up. "I suppose you want to book a tour."

And a Strange Figure Emerges."I was asking God, Senor Linguist." Karina stood up, looked around for a bit, then clicked her tongue. "Fine. If you really want to go right now, I'll get someone else to run the desk, and accompany you on your death-wish exhibition. If you promise not to get on my nerves."
And a Strange Figure Emerges. If the snake hadn't completely retreated into the bushes, it had now, thanks to the wild attack at the branches. Regardless, Ken was now doing a fair job of hacking an opening through the wall of plantlife.
Engage.
It had been more than a few hours since the Wizard and Karina met at the tour guide building. After having sorted our her own backpack, and got an intern to watch the desk in her absence, the guide and he had set out on their quest. A lengthy drive took them past all the various villages down the winding road, then across the river, through the villages there, and finally to the settlement of Calca. There, after a little rooting around, and questions asked, they'd found the backalley path the others had taken, and at long last, the statue at the mouth of the fog-swept rainforest. Now, here they were, making their way through the bewildering and ever-darkening jungle.
And a Strange Figure Emerges.Karina pushed and waded her way through the underbrush. "I have to say (ow) it's getting (ah) a little hard to find our way through. But, as long as we stick together, we should be able to push past all this and <mother mary, is that even a plant?> ...and...find what we're looking for."
"The kid's right. We have to keep going. New kid! Keep on flailing that thing at the trees; we've gotta get past this wall and get this over with before sundown." He returned to slicing through the trees, and the way would be cleared in no time.
And a Strange Figure Emerges.

Raul winced at the scream, but got out a soft, dry cloth and proceeded to dry the wound. "Well, your voicebox sounds all right, at least. Do you feel anything else around the bite? Tingling? Numbness? Burning?"
