A twin-hulled battleship surfaced at the outskirts of Lumen.
"Astray team, enter the city and protect the citizens. Freedom, you're cleared for launch." The intercoms transmitted the captain's orders to all on board the ship, including a certain blue-suited Gundam pilot.
His hand gripped the controls tightly. It had been barely two years since the Bloody Valentine War, and now this new power - Eless, was it? - was repeating the same old story of wanton, indiscriminate slaughter. Don't they care that they're killing innocents? Haven't they learnt anything from the last war?
He'd tried negotiating in past encounters, begging them to stop their brutal attacks on civilians. But they never listened. Wave after wave of mechs had continued their incessant, mechanical advance... and wave after wave of mechs were cut down, one after the other, by their firepower. It was always the same old story.
"Freedom, launching."
The blue and white Gundam soared into the battlefield on angel's wings.
From his vantage point above the battlefield, Kira performed a quick scan. The Astray squad had advanced into the city, already taking minor casualties in firefights with Eless mechs, but they were holding their own. Not good enough.
His fingers flew across the Gundam's controls, locking on to the targets presented, and pulled the trigger. The Freedom's weapons roared in response, beams shooting across the sky and striking their targets with unerring accuracy. Mass-produced mechs fell to the ground, each divested of an arm, leg or head - incapacitating, but hardly fatal for the pilots within.
Suddenly, Kira felt a flash of recognition strike him - but of what, he couldn't tell. He only knew that it came from that direction... He looked, and saw two mechs in the distance - one white, one black, but both sporting familiar-looking crests on their foreheads. Gundams? They were unfamiliar to him, and while the former looked similar in design to the ones he was familiar with, the latter certainly wasn't... seeing as how it had eschewed conventional weaponry in favour of martial arts and what looked like - a beam cloth?

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.A golden blur. That's all the mech was. It stormed forward and closed the gap between itself and the man known as Coop. "I don't need to spare any words, I'll just end you quickly!" he smiled.
A red arc, two red arcs, four, eight. They weren't meant to hit the foe, no, only to confuse Coop. The onslaught occured right in front of him. The sword unfolded into a whip that constantly slashed at the air in front of the large, blue mech.
"RYUUJIN!" the boy said. The whip immediately formed back into its sword state. It attempted to impale the blue machine and end this small confrontation fast.
All style, all style.
"Show him your spirit, SIMON!" Master Asia turned away from both Simon and this new enemy. In the distance he saw another Gundam.
Mmm.. allies?
The Master Gundam walked away from the punching Leopardon and to the ones in the sky.
He opened up communication, "THIS IS MASTER ASIA!" is how he opened up the conversation. "Who are you?" he got right to the point.
From within her shuttle, Toybox Girl X analyzed the images being fed to her from the battlefield. She was hired to help defend this city and her price wasn't cheap. "Now these are interesting fights these organics come up with. I'll have to be careful not to let them too close to me!"
Out of the sky a beam of blue energy shot down. As it touched the ground it stopped and expanded, materializing as Toybox Girl X. She chose within the city not far from the advancing bots. They were much larger, and would make for great targets for her weapons.
As she ascertained her surroundings, she broadcast a secure message to her current allies. "Toybox Girl reporting in! Deployed within the city, taking down advancing enemies." Careful now, they won't have support bots to quickly repair my damages. Even if they are obliged to see to my repairs when I'm paid.
She started moving, boosting along the ground quickly without jumping high. She sought the nearest firefight and added her support, firing cruise missile after cruise missile two at a time.

Kira would feel yet another flash come from the same direction and an odd feeling of gratitude. Tiffa watched on as the GX used its beam saber to fight off a few of the Elions and slashing a few of them in half. "Master Asia huh? Well I'm Garrod Ran! The Blazing Mobile Suit Pilot!" Garrod shouted through his speakers back at the Master Gundam. With that said he used his boosters to dash through a few enemies and slashing more of them down.
Unfortunately that put him in position to be surrounded. "Crap. This doesn't look good." Garrod said as he looked around. Tiffa looked to Garrod and calmly said "I can help." She closed her eyes as panels on the cockpit started to sputter to life and screens pop up in front of Garrod. "Satellite....System?" He asked in confusion. While that was going on inside the suit, the outside started to changed slightly. The pieces on its back turned upwards. The long barrel like one lowered onto its shoulder as the flat pieces folded open to show solar panels in the shape on an X.
Up above a small blue laser fell from the sky. It made contact with the green lens on the chest of the Gundam, which started to glow. The solar panels on the back started to glow as well as energy gathered in the barrel. On the Freeden the captain was showing signs of panic. "Quickly! Pull the Freeden back from the town. Get Witz and Roybea back here. Contact that other ship and warn them as well!" The members of the crew were very surprised by how their normally stoic captain was acting. It only took one look from him to get them working though.
The brunette tried to patch a message through to the Archangel. "Come in. This is the Freeden. Move away from the white Gundam. I repeat, move away from the white Gundam."
The entire mecha shook as the enemy's fist impacted. However, the damage was superficial, and more importantly... It meant the enemy had attacked once. A smile that belonged on his bro's face appeared on Simon's.
"JUST WHAT I NEEDED!"
With great speed, Gurren Lagann charged at it's foe. At the same time, the various drills it had grown, except for the two on each hand, launched. They made a graceful arc, before aiming themselves directly at the enemy mech.
The drills on the combined mech's arms began to spiral, the golden shine replaced with a green glow as the speed increased. The attack would happen in the same instant as the missile impact.
"MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!!!"
There was a screech as metal met metal.

The drills dug into Leopardon's metal. Soon, Peter heard Master Asia.
"My name is Peter Parker, Leopardon's pilot and loyal member of the Eless Empire." Peter said. He then noticed the number of mechs appearing. "I wonder if they bit off more than they can chew" Peter wondered. He then focused back on Gurren Lagann. He pressed a button which caused Leopardon's chest to fire a sticky web-like substance at the mech.
Those panels...
Captain Murrue Ramius had seen similar technology before. The Cyclops System that had wiped out the ZAFT fleet at JOSH-A operated on a similar system of microwave emitters; left undirected, the radiation would serve as a brutally efficient self-destruct system. But what if similar emissions could be focused into a beam?
It dawned on her that this was no ordinary cannon.
"Roger." she said, and switched channels immediately. "Helmsman, set us in reverse! Kira! Get away from the white Gundam now!"
Kira saw the glowing panels on the back of the other Gundam at about the same time as he experienced a second flash - it was stronger this time, much stronger. Murrue's words only confirmed his suspicions, and he pulled the Freedom into a steep ascent to get away.
Who are these people, and why do they feel so... familiar?

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Master Asia
"Good, good." the old man nodded, closing his eyes.
We'll need all the help we need to deal with this.
The man looked around. The destroyed city, new allies appearing, a girl zapping down from... outerspace?
"Hmmm..." he scratched his head, the face turning a bright red. "U-uh.. ahahahaha! I admire your spirit, girl!" the man nodded, returning to his original stance, arms crossed.
A faint glint on the horizon.
Something was coming, sailing through the air and closing in on the city.
They finally come into view.
A series of large, white lances with glowing, scarlet blades. They're only blurs to the human eye. A total of five dance with one another until stabbing into the ground.
One into the side of a building, one into an Elion mech, the other three on open ground.
Wait, no there weren't just five... on each side of the city there were fifteen more of these white lances. Shot on all four sides, the intention was to trap the city in some sort of box-shield.
If something wasn't done, devastation was in store.

Reuji
Coop made no effort to move, only attack. Shooting a managable projectile like there fist? The mech continued with its attack as its body maneuvered away from the incoming fist. The long, glowing blade continued on its charge to impale the blue machine.

The GX
spread its legs out and used its arms to brace the cannon on its shoulder. All of a sudden any clouds that were near the small laser's path were forced away from it by some sort of invisible energy. The GX started to slow slightly as the laser from the mood receded, whatever it was powering up was done. The GX turned to face one the giant dragon mechs and any Elions in the way.
"Alright, Satellite Cannon fire!" Garrod shouted as he pulled the trigger on the controls. Immediately a gigantic beam of energy shot out of the GX and tore its way forward. Any Elions in the way were vaporized within a second at most. The laser beam roared as it flew towards the dragon mech, ready to put a sizable hole straight through it. After he fried it, Garrod slowly started to turn the GX, causing the laser to sweep to the side to catch any stragglers he missed.
"Tch, yall young bloods are too reckless." An offwhite fighter jet suddenly swooped down from the sky, blazing through the air Muddy Waters was suddenly behind the lance that was rushing towards the MEGAS XLR. Grinning the Valkyrie pilot gently squeezed the trigger mounted on his mech's control waldo, and sent a barrage of hot lead into his target.
From the corner of his eye Muddy saw the various white lances embedded in the ground across the city. Flipping several switches he armed what micromissles he had left, and targeted whatever lances were in range. Muddy waters spat out a word so filthy and vile that it'd make the new born baby Jesus cry. Staying on the glowing lance's tail was hard enough; splitting his attention between acquiring a lock for his missles, and trying his damnedest not to crash wasn't making it any easier. Several seconds later swarms of missles began to stream out from the valkeryie's wings in several directions streaking in towards their targets. While the jet itself was desperately weaving through the air, spewing out lead death in a desperate attempt to finish off the blue lance before it finished Coop.

Toybox Girl X dealt with the troops as she faced them, assisting whoever she ran across as there was little organized effort in this defense so far. Speaking to herself, "No messages, no direction. This town doesn't stand much of a chance. That makes my jump a lot tougher, I don't have enough ammo for all of them."
Toybox Girl X jumped up and boosted herself to the tops of the tall buildings, using the shorter ones as stepping stones. From there she could get a clear view of the surrounding area. Locking on to any enemy she could, she started attacking the enemy. But she was ready to jump off the building should it get attacked. Or jump down to block an enemy that locks onto her using the building.
Kira had ascended enough to see all that was taking place on the battlefield.
He felt slightly sickened as he watched the Elions vanish in the stream of light that poured from the white Gundam's shoulder-mounted cannon, leaving nothing but a swath of destruction in its path. The black one, on the other hand, was still battering Elions without pause.
On the other side of the battlefield, a strange whip-wielding mech was facing off against one which seemed to be completely made of drills, while another one - the one that had transformed from a ship - was fighting another which looked as though it'd been cobbled together hastily from out of the scrapyard. A pair of Variable Fighters - he'd seen a couple in action before - were engaged in combat with Elessian forces.
That left the lances which had impaled themselves around the city. They were arrayed almost too neatly, as though forming... some kind of a box? And their blades glowed scarlet, similar to the aura surrounding the mass-produced mechs which they were facing - not a good sign.
It's a trap! They had to be destroyed as quickly as possible. "Captain Ramius - please get word to all those in the city: The Elessians are planning to entrap the city - the lances must be destroyed! Astray team -"
"They're holding their position, but enemy fire's too thick for them to advance." Murrue sounded almost apologetic. "It's up to you."
"...I understand." Kira dove down towards the south side of Lumen, dodging and weaving through the hail of beams in his path as he tried to get a good shot at the lances. Too many...
And just then, a familiar sensation burst out within his head, and his eyes widened.
The Elions never knew what hit them. The Freedom plunged into their midst like a hunting raptor, twin beam sabres out. In a flash, two of their number were on the ground, divested of their arms and legs before they could even react. The remaining two turned their own beam sabres on the attacker - but the Freedom was faster, plunging its weapons into their head-mounted targeting arrays. A pair of quick slashes later, and they too had fallen.
Kira sheathed the beam sabres and took up his shield and beam rifle. And as quickly as he'd struck, he was airborne again, having opened a brief window of opportunity.
I see them! The target acquisition module locked onto the lances, and the Freedom hovered in mid-air while its plasma cannons and railguns unfurled. "Full Burst Mode, activated," the computer announced.
Kira fired again.
"All Nivean forces, this is the Archangel. The lances at the city's perimeters are most likely there to surround the city. They must be taken out!"

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Lucio figured that things like this were seen by Anibal Hahn's higher up allies as necessary, but he did feel a twinge of something in his chest at the thought of those people in there. Was this...regret? Could this be feeling? He did not want to believe it.
So, as an Ace designated to defend the Lances, he supposed he had to do what he could. He whispered to himself, "I...I think I'm sorry for doing this, Lia. But I'm a soldier...I have to do as Anibal tells me..."
That said, when he saw a massive blast coming his way, and looking to blast the lance he was supposed to be protecting to pieces, he flew up and used La'Ciel's shoulder guards to protect it. He winced, whoever was doing this was no rank and file soldier...another Ace, most likely.
"Gh...who has this kind of ranged power?"

The blade didn't penetrate the target as intended. Instead, the long laser blade was intercepted by a mass-produced Elion Machine. "Why stain my whip blade wi-"
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The mech warned the pilot. In the distance, missiles came straight at him in a mad frenzy. "Dammit!" said Reuji, pulling out the laser blade. It reformed into its whip state and in the next instant a blur. Arc after arc, streak after streak formed as the whip cracked through the air. A barrier in the form of a red gale of pure death. Missiles were destroyed left and right. Explosion after explosion broke through the air.
"Ahahahahaha, man, this is great! Got anymore!?" the boy enjoyed every second of it.
He, for the time being, forgot he was fighting Coop.
The lances meant for the south site of the city were about to be destroyed until an Elessian Soldier intercepted the blast.
Muddy's missile barrage managed to take out at least four of the grounded lances.
"Mmmm... " Master Asia heard the command from the Arch Angel. Lances in the ground, yes. Bad, yes. The Master Gundam took eye of something, however. On the South side, a blast ripped through the air only to be blocked by an Elesian Mech.
"Finally!" the man said with a grin. The lances could be handled by the already stationed forces. Yes, yes, he'd take this opponent on!
"You!" Master Asia's voice ripped through the air. A violent sprint forward and through the war torn land scape. He approached Lucio at a violent speed.
In the next second the Master Gundam landed on the ground below, looking up at the airborne Ace. "What are you planning to do, attacking this border city!" he called out, hoping for an answer.
"On it sir!" said Sybille. "I WON'T LET THEM BOX THIS CITY!"
Her Valkyrie then did an aerial U-turn and headed towards the nearest lance.
—
Megas threw a punch at the enemy mech's head with it's right hand.
"I don't like being challenged to a fight and then ignored," said Coop.

Muddy Waters had a wide ol smile plastered right across his face as the glowing blue lance finalyl burst into flames and crashed into the ground. Spotting a cluster of lances the Valkyrie pilot veered his jet off in their direction. "Heheheheheh watch closely now, This is how you fight in a vakyrie!"
In one smooth motion the soaring jet suddenly transformed into a vaguely humanoid form and lept onto the lance latching onto the white weapon with its left arm, while its right jammed the barrel of a 35 mm gunpod into the side of the lance sending round after round into it. Leaping off as the giant lance exploded, Muddy rearmed his remaining missles and sent a storm of fire, smoke, and steel out towards the surrounding lances.

The newcomer shared a colour scheme with the Freedom, but little else, and the spikes mounted on its back only served to remind Kira of a certain grey Gundam which he'd destroyed some two years before.
He shuddered. That battle had cost him his life... and more than a few friends.
The shot from his beam rifle had been blocked by that mech, much to his dismay. A quick sweep of his display showed that the remaining lances remained intact, - the smoking bodies of Elions between his shots and the targets gave him a fairly accurate idea of what had happened.
Just as Kira was about to commit himself to a fight, he heard a shout of challenge behind him, and that black Gundam from before tore across the field with unbelievable speed. It was a welcome intrusion; taking advantage of the distraction, he pushed the Freedom's thrusters to maximum output, and repositioned himself to get a clear shot before the enemies could get into place to deny him again.
The flashing dots lit up on screen, and Kira fired again, hoping desperately for a successful hit this time.

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.garrod blinked in surprise when something was actually able to block the blast he fired off. It only lasted for a few seconds longer before petering out, causing the equipment on the GX's back to return to normal. At least he managed to destroy a good number of the enemy with the shot. "We got pretty lucky to find this thing, huh Tiffa?" Garrod said with a smirk. It vanished though when he didn't get a response. He turned to look at the girl with question and asked "Tiffa?"
Tiffa was staring off into the distance, eyes wide and unfocused. Then she inhaled and started to scream. Kira would sense a sudden wash of anguish coming from the same direction as before. Garrod nearly jumped before trying to help Tiffa. "Whats wrong!? Tiffa? Hey Tiffa!?" Garrod called out to her, trying to get her to snap out of it.
Simon finally managed to free himself from the enemy mechs webbing(?), before re-engaging his foe. Jumping into the air, he let Nia project exactly where the enemy mech would be when he landed.
Gurren Lagann spun in air, building up momentum for it's strike. "EHHHHHHHHHHN!!" Green fire began appearing around it's limbs as it's foot came down like a meteor on the enemy mech. It was like a giant, spinning, over-the-top soccer kick.
There was a shockwave as it landed.

Simon's brow arched as the enemy's words came over the comm. Ready?...
"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!?"
The words echoed as Gurren Lagann began to glow with green fire, as drills began to form along the main body. This was the first human pilot he had encountered here, and if anyone was gonna pay for the atrocities here, it would be him.
And that is it for tonight. Post more in the morning. Night, and happy 2012
