I am very curious; do tell about the whole process, especially the publishing part. How was it, to publish for Kindle?
Did you utilise an editor? What about a cover artist? How much did it cost?
Why did you choose to this as a price level?
Oh, BTW, on the product itself, the description is very sparse. Some detailed description, maybe even a sample chapter would go a long way.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Regarding a preview, if you click on the cover image it will open up the first page so you can read that. I only set a very short synopsis and a low price because the story itself is rather short: it is not a novel so much as a novella.
Publishing for kindle was quite difficult, but only this first time I think: getting the hang of the different things to be filled in and setting up the royalty system was a pain, but on the whole it was pretty good I think.
As for an editor, I got my parents and my sister to give me feedback. We must have gone through it four or five times to iron out the kinks, but the end result is something I'm really proud of!
As for a cover artist, I hired a good friend of mine named James Boddy: he offered to do it for the (relatively) good price of about 55 pounds.
Congratulations for your achievement, and for being one of the few people on this site to stop complaining about how terrible they think their writing is long enough to actually write something.
Good luck with this and whatever future endeavors you embark upon.
Cynics are optimists that have become used to disappointment.Ah sorry, But I can't seem to access that first page preview. Then again, since Kindle is not ready to sell it to me, I guess they don't want to give me the preview.

As for covers, you could have scoured Deviant Art and got a good deal; there are lot's of artists willing to draw for peanuts. But I guess helping out a friend is also a good thing.
And I agree with the poster above; Good for you! You actually went ahead and did something, rather than just whine like the rest of us :P

Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Ah, thanks for the support guys! It took a long while, but I finally managed to do it. I hope to soon complete and upload another story, though I need to edit it and get a cover illustration for that one.
@Ryzvonusef: Did you try Amazon.Com? I'm just wondering, since that's the closest thing to a 'worldwide' version of the site. o_O"
Many congratulations to you, Eventua!
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Jealousy was never a good advisor. If it was, I'd be trying to kill you over the internet.
Likes many underrated webcomicsI JUST FINISHED THE SEQUEL TO THIS BOOK THAT I PUBLISHED ON KINDLE A WHILE AGO or something.
... Yeah, I dunno, hmm.
Actually, once I've *physically* published the Tin Boy and the Dragon (as well as its sequel, and perhaps some of the other stories within it), I wonder if I should make a works page for it? o_O;
It sounds like a conflict of interest to do your own works page. Let the community know when it's available so we can fill out such a page independently.
My Blog | My Steam profileI think what I'll do, is once I've properly published The Tin Boy and the Dragon I will create a thread actually *about* The Tin Boy and the Dragon and then use that for the entire series, with regular updates and stuff, and then hope people want to discuss things there.
I'll leave a possible works page up to other people - see if people actually like it enough for that! :3

It's available on Amazon Kindle (there's a free app that lets you read them on PC/Mac/iPad/assorted other gadgets etc. though) right now! Please check it out! :D
Here's the US link: http://www.amazon.com/Tin-Boy-Dragon-ebook/dp/B006QYTM9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325252629&sr=8-1
Here's the UK link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tin-Boy-Dragon-ebook/dp/B006QYTM9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325252651&sr=8-1
And here's the free app for PC download: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000423913&tag=googhydr-21&hvadid=7117590606&ref=pd_sl_11v6qirqy2_b
So, uh, yes! There's a free preview built into the page: if you click on the cover you can read the first page for free!
I'd love to see what you guys think of it...!
