A thread to discuss the Trails Series of video games (known in Japan as the Kiseki series). Adaptations of the games are also on-topic.
As of May 2024, there is no specific spoiler policy for this thread, which means the the default forum spoiler policy
applies.
In summary:
- Spoilers for non-episodic works should remain tagged for a minimum of one month after the work's release.
- Spoilers for episodic works (including any DLC) should remain tagged for one month or until the next instalment releases, whichever is shorter.
There hasn't been much good news in months for people who want more Legend Of Heroes VI in English. Xseed has apparently been translating the second installment for PSP, but no release date yet, and they apparently have not had much sales success. Meanwhile, there have been no official statements about releasing the Windows versions in English.
But thanks to this Andriasang article
, I learned that Aeria Games (best known for MMORPGs) plans to release the Trails in the Sky trilogy internationally on smartphones. Some online and social functions will be added to the basic gameplay. No clear indication of what international smartphone platforms just yet.

Honestly if you follow NPC stories.... the length of Trails games basically doubles. Those little stories are so important to the world of Trails, it wouldnt feel the same if NP Cs wernt moving around and living their daily lives. Also some of the funniest moments come from just NP Cs like Mint getting lost in the janitor's closet on the first free day or trying to set up her uncle on a date or (CS 2 safety spoiler) maintaining an entire division of Tanks for weeks just cause she wants to help out.
There is just so much text it is a translating nightmare.
If you look at the Japanese script character counts... The two lowest character counts are Sky Third and Reverie. Those two games barely have any like town exploration so very little in the way of NPC dialog, the former is the shortest trails game out of them all and the latter doubles down on the game play more so than any other entry with 50 playable characters and such.

So question before I start the next chapter, since Thors is a military academy and the Empire does like conquest, does that mean Rean and friends will eventually graduate into joining the army and become part of the war machine?
It's pretty hard to imagine but they are part of the Empire and this is a military school.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Bold of you to assume that Rean and his friends are going to graduate.
But seriously? Thors started off as a military academy, but at this point it's mostly a place for rich people to send their kids. It's actually stated that many Thors alumni go into civilian jobs, and nobody in Class VII has any military aspirations. Aside from Alisa inheriting the country's biggest arms manufacturer.
And on that note, I wish that we'd seen more Thors alumni caught up in the war fever in IV.
As for Dieter, his whole deal is in the Crossbell games.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.
Now that top part sounds ominous.
I do remember some text about how 40% of the military academy graduates actually join the military.
Yeah, I can assume the fact that he was the former CEO of the bank and became the mayor is something that happened in the Crossbell games right?
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Okay, so some discussions on the Empire's politics, I can assume from how Millum got into the school that the Emperor and Osborne are allies yes? Seems like a calculated gambit to keep an eye on the son of the noble faction. I mean, the crown prince likes him,
And speaking off, I'm shocked that Rufus is not on Osborne's team. Dude doesn't seem to have the highest opinion of nobles and even foiled his own father's plans.
Unless I'm forgetting something.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Playing a game you finished but with amnesia is truly a unique experience.
I keep remembering random shit like some kind of school musical, and a fight with Laura's dad, but not the important plot points.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"It's not weird at all. The recommended playing order is the release order.
Spoilers are learning something you weren't intended to know by the author ahead of time. Learning something you are intended to know is dramatic irony, not spoilers.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh hahaahahahaha........ Millum is giving me PTSD of that time my younger sister visited my high school. I'm still in therapy. Also as someone who has babysat 13 year olds, Millum still more well behaved than some I know.
-So is Angelica going to be one of those "Hahahahaa isn't it funny and titillating how the tomboyish lady is such a flirt?'' She was flirting with a 13 year old. No, just NO!
-Huh, Millum does know Jusis' dad. She def has spied on him at some point, and I'm convinced she's also here to keep an eye out on Jusis and use him as a hostage if the duke rebels. Since there's a civil war, I think that fails.
-It appears the old building was calling out to Millum? What? I can't remember much about that building. Damn it all!
These two look like they are planning a murder.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Unfortunately, handling of LGBT characters is one area that has been a consistent weak point of the series. At least through Reverie; IDK if there's any well-written LGBT character in Daybreak.
My musician pageAt least they don't discriminate right?
Also is it a good idea to invest in Crow or not? I want him with my squad but my team has been pretty consistently good, don't wanna break up the flow.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I don't think money for weapons and armor is too big a concern, so feel free to buy all the equipment for whatever characters you plan on using. The game averts So Long, and Thanks for All the Gear too.
My musician pageAngelica is a walking talking libido, but you can tell she was meant to be positive representation. She does get some focus after the first game and underneath the sexual assault she's a proud lesbian who won't let anyone stop her from living free. That is not a bad concept, but it doesn't excuse everything else. Even when she grows up she won't stop hitting on teenagers and it borders on creepy.
In her defense Olivert can be pretty flirtatious too, but at least he's got layers.

For me both FC and The Third were 60 hours each. SC was both of them put together.
Not sure how it took so long, but I always do all the sidequests I can and talk to everyone as much as possible.
