@ Top Gear: From what I can see, I can't see what the fuss is about. It's just a standard Kent age-related re-registration. It may be a unfortunate choice of letters, but I have no doubt it was on the car when it was purchased, especially when you take into account where Top Gear is based.
Keep Rolling On
I'm pretty certain it was fully intentional. If the reg was already on the car when they bought / rented it, it's the reason why they bought / rented it.
I have no sympathy for either side. No doubt Clarkson and co are patting themselves on the back for successfully prodding Argentina's Berserk Button - it's been a publicity success.

"Yup. That tasted purple."In the end it comes down to if the plate was deliberate or not, if it was than they're idiots (though them being insensitive idiots is not legit reason for them and their crew to be physically attacked), if it was just a genuine moment of idiocy than someone is an idiot (and this point Top Gear should have some assigned to check for "things likely out cause massive offence and get us driven out of town" on trips abroad) but that's that.

If theyre were going to try and start trouble they'd have done more than just "flk" on a license plate which includes other characters.
When they decided to piss off rendecks they painted "Country and Western is Rubbish" "Nascar sucks" "Hillary Clinton for president" and such things on their car.
If they were trying to do this they'd go all out. Like, plaster one car with this
◊.
The Porsche 928 in question has held that registration since 1991 by the way. It might just have been a legit coincidence.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiIt's entirely possible that this was a one in a million genuine coincidence.
The problem here is Poe's Law - since Clarkson is an overt racist, and even the much more likeable Richard Hammond has been known for it (his remarks against the Mexicans where he described a crappy car as representative of the people on the basis of a whole load of derogative stereotypes), I could entirely believe it was intentional too. The show's main source of publicity is the controversy it causes, otherwise it's just a generic (albeit sometimes entertaining) car show.
If it was a genuine mistake, then the sheer number of other problems in the past means that the lack of quality control is inexcusable and there is no way whatsoever for them to prove that it was genuine.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Top gear's done an official response to the whole thing.
By the time of the protest they'd already taken the plate off because they'd had it pointed out to them. they hadn't noticed before then.
Venuezuela is now on the security council
I'm wondering how this will effect the Argentine position globally,if I remember correctly Kitchener was quite close with Chavez plus with the recent Exon ruling against Venezuela, they will probably band together to fight the eeeeeevul capitalists.
It's the Security Council, it's not like there's much they can do.
Also they're not on until January 1st, the switch over of seats is on new years.

Argentina isn't the author of its own misfortunes to the extent that Venezuela is. The capitalists trying to force Argentina into default are evil, in my own view. Kirchner is talking a good "the yanquis are out to get me" game, but I don't imagine it is especially convincing or that many Argentines take it seriously.
The biggest problem with Venezuela's UNSC seat is the fact that their delegate is an unqualified Woman Child and putting her on the UNSC is Maduro's way of getting shot of a political liability.
What it means? It means that the furthest left-populist Latin-American governments will have an outspoken, if not necessarily strong, voice on the UNSC. The more moderate governments like Bachelet's in Chile and Mujica's in Uruguay will find much to like and much to bemoan, and the few right-wing governments (and those which may come in the latest round of elections) south of the Rio Grande will be disappointed.
As it impacts Argentina: one of Argentina's friendlier allies gets a seat on the UNSC, which is good for Kirchner, but she'll be out at the next election, and her replacement - of whatever party - may not have such a rapport with Maduro, or see Venezuela as such an appealing partner, given it is, to put it mildly, a basket-case.

HMS Portland seems to have been recently deployed their, but by the sound of it it's just a couple of idiots on a boat, the coast guard could deal with it. Or they could just wait for them to land and arrest them.
