Reimu's explanation of the shrine's existance on the outside mad sense. Since it was at the edge of the border then it would act as a gate between the two. Or maybe more like an anchor. Aya never quite got how the Border worked, only that it kept the humans out and them in, except in certain circumstances. It was something she never bothered to study on. The shrine maiden's sudden attachment to the dilapidated building was much more understandable and infinately cuter, and the reporter took a picture on Reimu hugging the support beam. It was like a child coming home after a long journey.

When the octogirl asked who she was, Aya gave a big smile. It was always nice to give a good impression to new people, even if it's not a good as she thinks. "I'm Aya Shameimaru, reporter, editor, and owner of the Bunbunmaru Newspaper, and the fastest in all of Gensokyo" She introduced/boasted. Part of her expected the rest of the cast to pick apart her claimes, but she was never the one to miss out on talking high of herself.

Aya followed after Marsia once the black white witch urged them to leave the shrine aand into the world beyond. After all, they can't have an adventure and save Gensokyo sitting here! She moved to the door to exit the old place and saw that two people were-OH CRAP! She wasn't expecting there to people people right outside the door, where they could see her less than human features. Aya quickly folded her wings to hide behind her back, but her slinder form made a poor hiding place for her wings. "Uh, HI!" Aya greeted rather nervously, complete with awkward wave. "How...how long have you been there?"

Komichi walked up to the door as well, following the shrine youkai and briefly frowning at the state of disrepair the shrine was in. Giving Aya an amused look at her attempt to hide her wings, she said, "I thought I'd see if this old shrine was still here. But what's this crowd?"

After Ecthe hugged Mystia and responded to Mystia a almost blushing Ghost came out of Ecthel and hugged Mystia.

"I'm doing great!"

she clamped onto Mystia and hugged her the night sparrow, her face turning reder

She then remembered she needed to answer the question fully...and became. A tad annoyed as she did.

taking in one last memory she ended the hug and finished her answer.

"Well, all execpt Ecthel not building my shrine yet." Panko said, steaming herself up a bit.

"You'd think he listen to his goddess some more", turning back and looking at Ecthel.

At that point in time, Yukari began to explain what she had said to the others...

As she did, Panko remained outside of Ecthel...if Reimu wasn't there, maybe there wasn't a need to fear being seen...

Reimu was mumbling nonsense as she continued to hug the support, oblivious to what was going on and, indeed, to the fact that there was visitors. That was fine anyway, normal people—by the standards of the outside world rather than Gensokyo's skewed perception—never visited this shrine for some reason. Anyone that was here had every right to be here.

"Hey, old lady, do you know what's happened in the past... two hundred years? I've been out of touch for a while," Mokou asked, completely unaware that most people wouldn't believe you if you said you had missed two hundred years of history for any reason.

Shokushuko hid behind Aya, peering around and generally keeping as much of her body hidden as possible. Apart from a few traces of pink to the side, where one of the tentacles that made up her hair was wrapped around a pencil, she was doing a good job of it.

Komichi raised an eyebrow at Mokou. "Two hundred years? Well, then. We could be here all day if I told you everything." She chuckled, apparently unfazed by Mokou's age. "A lot changed more quickly than any of us would have guessed. But first, introductions. I'm Merokurei Komichi."

"Fujiwara no Mokou," the white-haired immortal said, finally getting around to lighting her cigarette and stepping outside of the shrine. The lack of footwear didn't seem to be a problem, since she promptly produced her boots from her pockets, of all things. Alright, so Eirin's creations weren't all determined to make her life a living hell but it was a close thing.

Jinjako spoke up, interrupting her.

"Are any of you shrine maidens?!" she asked quickly, waving her arms.

Rinnosuke regarded the newcomers for a moment, then adjusted her glasses and straightened. "Hello, I'm Morichika Rinnosuke. Have you seen anything strange recently?"

"I'm a shrine maiden," Reimu said, finally pulling herself away from the shrine to look at the little girl. She was cute but, then again, so were most of the children that Reimu had to deal with, Gensokyo's birth rate was heavily skewed towards the female side. There was something... different about this one, though. Something that made her want to hug and squeeze and just look after her...

The shrine maiden wasn't particularly good at resisting those sorts of things, since they were so incredibly rare, and the shrine youkai would find herself being hugged just like her support had.

"Ah, Mouse-chan. Well, I'm sure that the others will explain things to you," Yukari said, throwing the rest out. Not to the Hakurei Shrine, however, but instead to a conspicuously blank piece of ground that used to be occupied by the Moriya Shrine. No need to put everyone in one place when they were going to go look around.

Tenshi walked forward to get a better look at this new world she was about to explore! It... looked exactly the same as Gensokyo. Grass, trees, a damaged old shrine.. wait, a damaged shrine? "Huh?" the celestial looked up at the roof and at the ground. It was old and run down and Reimu was hugging one of the supports... and now she was hugging a girl. "So this is the outside world?" she said with a hint of disappointment.

She was then thrown to another SHRINE out of nowhere. "Eh, what, hey!" the girl stepped forward, now in an empty plot of land. A strange combination of anger and curiosity welled up from deep inside the girl's heart. "Mmmm.." she moaned to herself. Tenshi ignored everyone and just began her walk without any destination.

Nazrin groaned a little. She was coming to realize that travel by gap wasn't her favorite method of travel. She looked around. It was just her and the people sans Yukari that had been in the shrine with her. The area was flattish, near a lake, and surrounded by trees. Overall a kind of boring location.

"So, what are we supposed to be looking for?"

Ecthel felt that something was different about the place he was in. The area wasn't familiar to him, so he couldn't get a bearing to care as he kept on hugging Mystia. He noticed that Panko is around, and he attempted to hug Panko and Mystia all at once.

At that point, she realized she had paid little attention to what Yukari was trying to tell her.

Before the idiot Onryo could say someting stupid and get herself killed (For the third time as a ghost), they all felt a total change in their scene, sending Panko to the ground, her tush hitting the ground.

I stared at what was happening, my curiosity piqued. It seems that multiple other species of youkai were abundant, and that most of them happened to be girls. "Wow... It's like Anime-con in here." I muttered idly, regarding all the females of different shapes and sizes (though most were noticably lacking in the chest area).

Tenshi walked around the edge of the lake with one hand on the brim of her hat. The celestial began to think of what to do in this new world or how she should go about finding this supposed culprit. Well, she didn't care about the culprit, she only cared about having a good time. And then...

Maybe I could... live here.

The celestial rebuilt the Hakurei Shrine, hoping to live there but then... Yukari came out of nowhere and that plan went down the hole.

I'd keep to myself if that was the case... alright, I got it!

With that thought in mind, Tenshi summoned up yet another keystone. She lifted herself onto it, sitting down as it flew over the lake and to the other side.

Fortunately the group's arrival at not caused any panic from the people they were at the shrine before they were, beyond the odd look. That was good, since this was meant to be a quiet mission. And since none of them had ran away, that meant they'd probably won't go off telling people what they saw until after they and any evidence was gone. Actually some of them might not be human themselves, since one women did not seemed phased at all by Mokou's question about current events. The little girl was probably the strangest of the bunch, since she was just a little child in an abandonded building asking who ther was a shrine maiden, a rather specific question.

But Aya's causion was thrown to the wind as she saw Reimu and the little girl hugging, leading to a cuteness overload. Her held were hands together and she made a sound liek a high pitched "awwwww", eyes actually sparkling a little. It took her a few seconds to remember that she was still around peers and strangers amd quickly went back to her more prideful pose, like she didn't make herself a fool.

"So, continuing with miss-white-hair's questions: where are we?" She as she thought about how to go about this search, and seeing Mokou pull some boot out of her pockets, and remembering with a frown that she left hers on the shrine's porch back home.

Jinjako almost immediately returned the hug. This was amazing! A shrine maiden, a real shrine maiden, here! Now she'd be fine... right? She could even make requests!

"Brush my hair!" she said.

Marisa folded her arms, after regarding Reimu and Jinjako for several moments, and regarded all of these new people for several moments before she introduced herself. "I'm Kirisame Marisa! Generally awesome person and kicker of asses. And we're here to find some people."

Rinnosuke merely sighed. This was going to go badly, wasn't it?

Ecthel looked at the present location, trying to get a bearing on the area. He stopped hugging the girls he likes, and he walked around the area to identify something that is unique. He can't find anything that seems important, so he decided to go outside to get some fresh air and find out where he - and the others - are.

Elly wasn't too happy about being transported across the border. This wasn't in her job description! She only went to see what Yukari wanted, not to go and do anything for her!

...Well, it gave her a chance to see what had changed outside, at least. No point in hoping Yuuka would seek vengeance on Yukari either. She was most definitely in on this. Plus, the Outside World was just as unlikely to throw Chen at her than the Garden.

Shujiko had wandered around the shrine grounds, looking for something that distinguish this place as different from the Hakurei Shrine she had entered a few moments ago. So far, the shrine being in a different state of repair was the main difference.

The will youkai, finished with her awed wandering, walked to Mokou's side, seeing that she was talking to an old lady and remained silent. It would be rude to interrupt.

"Umm... who are you?" Reimu asked, looking down at the girl she was hugging. Why was there a donation box by her feet? And why did she think Reimu ought to brush her hair just because she was a shrine maiden? Besides, she didn't even have a hairbrush on her person, how could she brush anyone's hair?

Mokou, footwear now on, was leaning against the shrine supports and gazing at the view. It was worse than the Gensokyo shrine's, that was for sure. Everything was grey, apart from that one burnt-out shell that was actually black. So many places for people to hide... and they were expected to find somebody with no clue as to what they looked like?

"I'm Shokushuko!" the cephalopod youkai said, peering out from behind Aya and unconsciously wrapping her upper arms around the tengu for support. It might feel like she was being squeezed a bit tightly but it wasn't actually painful, or particularly disgusting... unless you looked straight down and realised what was hugging you, that was.

"Well, there's this woman, she kinda looks like she's in her twenties," Marisa began. At least they knew what Mima looked like, and that she was out here, so there was no harm in asking about her. "Green hair, really dramatic clothes green and blue clothes, a hat... that kinda thing, have you seen her?"

Jinjako frowned at the lack of hair-brushing. The fact that she once again slipped into third person when she spoke made her next sentence slightly confusing.

"Jinjako is Jinjako, and Jinjako is the Hakurei Shrine, too!" she replied, hoping this would lead to hair-brushing.

Rinnosuke cast a look around the shrine. "Ah... any help you could provide us with is appreciated, and even if you're unable to help, any intent to help is appreciated as well."

She contemplated asking if there was a way to change genders in the outside world, but then decided against it. She was probably brought here for her knowledge and didn't want to look unknowledgeable.

"So tell me again... Why are we here?"

Chiyuri wasn't in a particularly good mood today. Then again, she hardly ever was nowadays. It had been, what? A year now? Something like that. About a year since she was stranded in this backwards reality. They were only trying to get back to Gensokyo, and yet she ended up trapped outside its boundaries instead. Not that she knew the boundary was anywhere near her, as for all she knew she had been left alone in this world that seemed like a historical relic to her. No professor, no way back, having to go to a school whose classes were beneath her intellect just to fit in and not arouse suspicion, and worst of all...

"No reason! I just felt called here, silly~"

...Having to live alongside that annoying poltergeist. She had no idea why Kana had did it, but for whatever reason she'd snuck onto the Probability Space Hypervessel. If they'd known she'd been there they wouldn't have had to even make the return journey! They would've had all the proof they needed if they could present a real poltergeist to the scientific community! But alas, they were unaware of her presence until they were well on their way back to Gensokyo, and the accident happened. Hyperspace turbulence was the most likely explanation, but somehow she still suspected that Kana had at least some part in it, no matter how unintentional it may have been.

But what happened happened. For the last year or so, the two had been stuck in Tokyo, seperated from the professor and forced to live in secrecy. Who knows what the authorities would do if they found a poltergeist and a slider, let alone a slider whose scientific genius outstripped even the greatest scientists of this world by decades, if not more. Better to lay low and not attract too much attention.

With Kana around, however, this was... Not an easy task. She was impulsive, prone to acting out and had almost blown their cover so many times over the last year. But as much as she irritated the scientist, Chiyuri still kept her around. She was, after all, the last link she had with the professor. She didn't want to get rid of something like that.

And so she had to put up with the poltergeist's occasional whims. Today, it seems, she had decided to drag her off to some decrepit old shrine in a run down area of the city. She couldn't even come up with an excuse why; it was most likely just a random whim that she'd quickly grow bored of.

"Who're ya callin' silly?" the girl in the sailor suit protested. "You're the one that wanted to come to some deserted shrine!"

"Deserted?" Kana pouted. "It's not deserted. Lookie!" She pointed towards the shrine, and sure enough there was a small crowd of people there. "Ooh, maybe it's a party! Or a convention! Or a murder scene! Yeah, definitely a murder scene!"

"Why do you thi- Stop jumpin' to dumb conclusions, Kana!" Chiyuri's hand swung around to slap some sense into Kana... Only for it to phase right through her head.

"Nyah-nyah~" The poltergeist giggled, sticking her tongue out at the scientist as she floated backwards towards the shrine. "I wanna see the body, Chiyuri! Come on, it'll be fuuun~!"

"H-hey! Stop that!" Chiyuri yelled as she ran after her. "Ya don't know who could be watchin', idiot!"

The strange demand from the little girl was given a odd look from Aya, wondering why she would be so quick to ask for something from a complete strannger. Even if she was a shrine maiden, that's a lot of trust to put in someone you just met. But what surprised Aya the most was what the girl said next. Besides her name, she told reimu that she was the shrine itself. Assuming it was the truth, that meant that she was a youkai, born from the abandonment of the shrine for a hundred years. That would actually explain her attachment to Reimu, since it would be the miko's duty to care for the shrine, and by proxy the child. "Wow, Reimu, I guess people don't visit the shrine over here too" The tengu joked.

"I'm Aya, if we're giving introductions" The tengu said to the other three there with a casual mood, trying somewhat to hide her worry of the mission they were given. She moved over to the shrine door, a little hard because Shok had a grip on her and she was still trying to futilely hide her wings. Looking outside she saw the city that surrounded the shrine, buildings taller than the reporter had ever seen before. If they had to search for Mima (assuming that is the evil spirit Yukari had sent before them) and whoever was draining the border, than they had a long day ahead of them.

Looking down from the path leading up to the shrine sher saw that two other people was now nearing them. "I guess this place is popular today"
