Hell, do we even see Phasma's face in TFA? She has like 6 lines in the entire movie but if I had never watched GOT I would've never known how her actress looked beneath the helmet so whoever else could've played her if Hollywood didn't go people with some star power first.

Her role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones is the highest profile role she's had prior to Star Wars by a considerable margin.
In fact according to IMDB prior to playing Brienne, she had only once before portrayed a named character...on a TV show I've never heard of.

I think it should be clear that as far as we know the role hadn't been cast at the time the decision was made to cast a woman as Captain Phasma.
I don't believe anyone was ever told they got the role only to be later told they lost it for reasons that had nothing to do with them personally.

I think they should have given Phasma just a bit more in this one. Not much, but folding like wet cardboard was kind of embarrassing. I picture something like this:
- Finn: Disable the shields, or we shoot you.
- Phasma: Please, I've read your psychological profile. You could never shoot someone in cold blood.
- Han: I could.
- Phasma: Well, then you'll have to do it, because I'm not helping you.
- Finn: ...take off you helmet.
- Phasma: Why?
- Finn: I want to talk to you face to face.
- Phasma: Fine. [takes off helmet] It doesn't matter, I'm still not—
- Finn: [pistol-whips her unconscious]
- Han: I thought we needed her.
- Finn: Just her handprint should be enough. You know computers, right?
So, Star Wars thread people, an opinion question: would you support, oppose, or have no strong opinion on the Legends continuity continuing as an Ultimate Universe sort of thing?

Kot R could use a bit of polishing yes. I've played it for about ten hours and it's clear that effort and love was put into the game, but it's also pretty clear that it was a game made in 2003.
No opinion. Legends has good stuff and bad stuff based on what I've read, but I frankly just don't care about it.
CrimsonZephyr, I think you should wait a bit longer before declaring the new canon worse than Legends.
At the rate they're going, I'll be long-dead by the time they move away from shitty Sequel Trilogy tie-ins, and the Sequel Trilogy is weak tea compared to the KOTOR era or the Republic comics. Like, they kill off the old EU, and first thing they shit out in its place is Aftermath.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."@Hamburger Time: I guess I'm not really in favor of stuff that's explicitly non-canon being advertised because it might confuse casual fans.
They would be like, "Wait, who the hell is Jorus C'boath? Who the hell is Luuke?"

5% of USA's population is asian-american. That's a ton of people. Hell, Star Wars has a habit of hiring from england and the rest of europe for non-main character roles already so that's even more people who could've gotten roles.
