-Reaches over and puts a hand on his shoulder briefly-
-Gives him a little smile-
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Yeah. I understand what you mean. You're fine.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?-Decides to talk with her later and make sure there's no hard feelings-
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? We just... the soul is more like an idea. Something to attach ourselves to, something to bring all the little neurochemical signals and perceptions and all the millions of minute reactions keeping our meat fresh and our blood pumping and our neurons firing - to make that mean something. The idea that a little bit of us, the important stuff, will stay around after we die.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?-Blinks-
No it's not. It's about six hundred fifty gigajoules that your brain makes echoes off of while you're alive. I'm... I don't remember the specific parts, but that's how it works, sort of. You'd have to ask someone that studies them. When you die, it returns to the Lifestream.
The problem is, souls aren't... they're usually not in an energy form that anyone can use. So it has to be converted into mako to power things. But mako poisons the earth, and it can't return to the Planet like a soul can, so everything started to die the more everyone used it.
That's why I can talk to you, but not her. In your head, I mean. You have a soul, and I can use that to sort of... feel out the thoughts your brain makes. I think, anyway. I'm just guessing. There's a lot of noise and smells coming from everywhere all the time, so it gets hard to sort it all out. Luna doesn't have a soul, or a brain. It's all machine parts, and I can't talk to those.
-Looks at her- So I never said you weren't a person.
Well, every universe runs on different rules.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?-Leans in and tips down his sunglasses-
-In the lower light, his eyes emit a weak glow — dim enough to be hidden by sunglasses, but bright enough to lend them an unnatural sort of intensity. Up close, though, it can be seen that there's a ring of bright green around the pupils that pulses slowly, and tendrils of bright blue and teal lazily weave themselves through his irises. It would be rather relaxing to watch if there weren't something vaguely unsettling about the whole thing-
It's the mako. They put a lot of it inside me. It used to make it hard to think, with so many voices. Or, maybe it was the Planet. It hurt either way.
-Tips them back up- Humans don't have mako eyes. Just Soldiers. So I have to hide them.
... Alright. Out here in public, you might need to keep those hidden. People won't understand. But when it's just us? Never feel like you have to hide anything.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

Listen just talk to him. He's not trying to mean to you. Just...not explaining things well.
