-Jack leans back into his seat, staying nonetheless alert for anything odd-
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?City
-Fen-
Well... they can take many different forms.
Okay, sure.
-Chris looks relieved-
Well... I woke up one day.
It's foggy... in the beginning. I wasn't a kid. I was a teenager, although how old I was or am now I don't know. All I remember after waking up is running. From what I don't know. From where I don't know. But I found myself in the middle of the city... and it felt right.
He found me. He was a police officer, retired, but he took me in. Introduced me to a few of his friends, helped me make a few of my own.
He taught me things too. A lot of things. What I did and didn't remember was... haphazard. But he was a good man.
My house is actually where he lived.
All the while I just... lived. It's what seemed the right thing to do. I'd spend my days in the city, and once he realised I didn't sleep, and I was able to go out on my own, I'd go out at night too.
When he realised that I was... me, he didn't tell anyone. He told me not to tell anyone either if I could help it.
But when I did go out, I saw so many things that were hurting this city. This is my place. It took me in. I couldn't just sit by. I guess that's probably partly his fault. I hate injustice.
So I started helping.
One day he died.
Apparently someone shot him. I didn't see it. That was a rough time.
But I kept living. Here, in my city. Living, and helping where I can.
-He shrugs-
Battlefield
-The demon stops-
-Its wings sag, as if disappointed-
-Assassin is grabbed around the neck and flung through the stone wall at blinding speed-
-Directly at the approaching Eiji-
-A grin on his face, the demon kicks at Arcueid, launching her toward the rest of the party, where unless she does something, a crater will be formed as she lands-
-Luna- What do you gotta fake it for?
-connect the dots-
...For... Wherever you went after you ran away?
-John- Oh...
-Looks down a little-
...Well hey, that's pretty great of you! ...What exactly do you do for a job, though? That house doesn't pay for itself, right?
Gwah!!
-2X SLAMMAJAMMA-
-Eiji is thrown right off his feet by the fastball Assassin-
-and that's assuming arc didn't crash into them as well-
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's meanBattlefield
-In response to Klara speaking-
Heaven above outside me.
-He is suddenly right in the middle of the group of Klara, Lance, Gil and Winda, near the Arc crater-
City
-Cloud-
Hey, it's... well, it's not fine. These things never are when you think about them. But it happened. I just have to keep living life. No sense in dying in spirit just because he did.
-Sora-
Well. I..
-Looks embarrassed-
Mostly I just get by on the generosity of others. My best friend in the force, he looks after the bills for the most part.
I don't really have a job.
-Chris just tries to make himself unnoticeab-
Well, I guess it's Chris' turn now.
-He looks up-
...
Fine.
-Luna- Why can't you use magic?
-John- ...That... Is awesome! That means you get to be, like, a vigilante without none of the "daily life" stuff, huh?
-Keeps his ear peeled for Chris's story-
Ugh... Ow... Gimme a sec...
-carefully-
-easy-
-WHOA WATCH YOUR HANDS BUDDY-
-Slips out from Assassin and rubs his stomach-
What threw...
-Looks up to the Demifiend in the sky over the others-
...you?
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's mean

I think it ought to be you.
-She says to John-
