(Baiken picks her sword back up and sheathes it, while a grappling hook like attachment falls out of her right sleeve and begins swinging)
Smile, motherfucker.
Aven
Ho ho! You're a feisty one. Just wait till we get to the main course.

This has been a long time coming. I'm going to end the mistake of creating you, you damn bitch!
Try me...Flame of Corruption.

(a faint red light emanates from the two, and a fiery tower engulfs Sol)
Ack! Sol?!
(when it dissipates, Sol is still there, however...)
Sol....you're...?
(if the flaming wings, scaled tail and claws are any indication)
(he's one of them)
(PAUSE)
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiThey're good people. They're my family.
...When I got out, I killed every single member of the science team and guard staff. I spent a year hunting down the ones I missed... and I felt better. But it didn't... I wasn't happy.
-Finally releases the pressure in his back and lets out his wings, folding them neatly behind his back- I was happy because I felt safe. Because I found someone that mattered to me — that didn't care what I was, because I was me. And after her, there were more... most of them humans. A couple of them like me.
There are a lot of good people in the world. It... it hurts, a lot. Trying to find them. But they're there.
This won't make you happy. It isn't what you want.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistInterlude
America, Gear Project Lab, more than a Hundred years ago
"The sun never shines here."
The man thought as he paced around his own personal lab. For any scientist, this was the ultimate possession to have. His own working space, near limitless data files and resources at his disposal to continue his research. But was sacrificing so much for this, worth it?
It wasn't...the man knew. He had refused. But someone wanted this "Gear Project" to get off the ground a little too badly. Mercenaries were sent. They broke into the man's house. They broke his nose, his limbs, plenty of other body parts too. Really, it was a miracle he was alive.
They threatened what was left of his immediate family, and it was then that he caved in to their threats and accepted.
So that was that. In order to save himself and his family, he chose his first live, human test-subjects for the Gear Project. And they were his closest friends.
The man picked up the photo frame that lay on his desk. It was just him, the young red-haired woman known as Aria, and a black-haired man they called Frederick. They were his closest friends and associates. Despite being their boss by technicality, they'd helped him out so much, and he couldn't be more grateful to them.
And he betrayed them.
America, Gear Subject Storage, more than a Hundred years ago
The man had visited Frederick the next day. There he was, floating in his tank, the first Prototype to the Gears.
Frederick couldn't talk. Not in his state, not after everything he'd been put through. But he silently accepted his fate. Better him who indirectly contributed to these horrific experiments being done to him. Better him than...
"Frederick. There's something you should know. It's only fair that I be the one who told you this..."
Frederick looked up. The man was speaking up. Frederick tried to utter the man's name, but that escaped him.
"...I'm sorry. Aria's been chosen as a Gear candidate as well. She's in a separate wing being tested on......I'm sorry...."
In that moment, every single feeling Frederick could have possibly felt, sadness, acceptance, even pity for his friend, exploded into volatile anger.
He had only managed to restrain himself for fifteen seconds or so, trembling and sobbing, before he couldn't take it anymore. His fists slammed themselves onto his tank. His face distorted in a manic painting of insanity. His voice, muffled as it was, calling for that man's blood.
The man couldn't take it, the outburst had scared him out of his wits and caused him to fall on his back. There it was, what he always thought he deserved. He had turned on his friends, and now they rightfully sought vengeance against him.
His shoulder shaking, and tears staining his pale cheeks, the man stumbled out of the lab.
"I"m sorry....I'm sorry...."
"Sorry..."
Frederick slumped in his tank in defeat, indulging in some tears of his own.
{"Aria...Aria is....no...."}
The Gear Project had begun and was about to go into full swing. And humanity would pay the price for the sufferings of these three friends.
Now and for a long time after.
To be continued...

"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiThere are.
They're people, like us. People... they do things like that. But not all people are like that. What about — what about Fen, and Karkat, and Alpha? When you were in there with them — I don't think they'd... they wouldn't.
...Zack didn't, at first, when he was in with me. He was a person, too.
I — even if you don't believe me, just... listen to what you're doing. Look around. Look at how afraid they are, and how you're laughing.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon Alchemist...It doesn't help. And at the end of the day, you're still afraid. It still hurts.
...We don't even belong here, with this war. Not me or you, or the Doctor, or Fen, or Shinji, or Biker or anybody.
...
I'm not fighting any of you. Not for you, and not for a bunch of politicians. I'll save who I can, but I won't fight you. Then, when this is over, we'll all see how stupid this was, and we'll go home.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistThis won't end it. This will never end it. It doesn't matter what species they are, people will be people. They'll do terrible things to each other because it makes them feel powerful, because they're afraid, because they're greedy, because they want revenge, because they're just following orders...
It'll only end when you've let it end. It's... it's not easy, and it'll take a long time, it'll hurt, but that's the way it is.
It doesn't have to hurt like this, though. It never does.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistIt — it's a lot of things. It —
...It helps to have someone to talk to, though. If you can just sit down, and — and just talk about stupid things, like things are normal. Someone else that knows what it's like to hurt that bad, or... or even someone that doesn't, so they can show you all the good things you don't notice when you are.
You don't have to do this.
