Lab
(ROUND TRIP beheads quite a few of the guards, whittling their numbers down)
(some though, are smart enough to duck and proceed to launch their fireballs)
(but Testament isn't having that)
(his right arm, shoulder and part of his side dissolve into blood and cover the group in a blood barrier)
(then it goes down as soon as the fireballs cease)

It's no problem at all.

Paris, Sacred Order of Holy Knights Headquarters
"A-and that's it for today's report...u-um, sir?"
"Yes, I'm listening. Thank you very much. You are dismissed. Get plenty of rest, you've fought hard."
"Sir."
The Knight's stiff body bowed to his superior and shook a little, stressed from a whole week of fending off a Gear attack on a shelter in Germany. The man was, miraculously enough, still fit for future battles to come, though the same could not be said of his unit. Though the Gears were fended off successfully, the unit suffered several casualties. This was one of the worse cases of body count in the past month or so. Though humanity could be said to stand a chance against the Gears, many feared that the battle would take its toll on the humans' forces eventually.
It burdened Commander Kiske's heart to see his forces so exhausted, and yet knowing that the war was far from over and their efforts would not be ceased yet.
They say that the Commander is the brains of the organization. Without him, surely the Sacred Order would fall apart till it found a new one. Surely it was best for the Commander to stay out of battles and supervise everything else.
Commander Kiske was not a believer of this philosophy. He fought on the front lines of the most important operations regularly. He would never forgive himself if he just sat back and watched the army he commanded fight and die before his eyes.
His thoughts wandered to Sergeant Gwendolyn and her unit, who he had just sent to the main human shelter in Russia to participate in the general repair of their defenses. Their particular mission was urgent, due to reconnaissance efforts revealing that Gear activity was reaching a high near that shelter.
Taking a sip of his afternoon tea and settling it gently back onto the pristine white china on his desk, he took a breath and performed the sign of the cross.
"Lord God, I beseech thee, watch over our men as they fight to protect your people. Lend them the strength and courage they need to fight, and grant our civilians the hope that this nightmare of a war will end. In the seeking of your love, I pray. Amen."
To be continued...
