Okay... So what do you suggest? Strife is the way he is because of long periods of hopelessness and pain. Not exactly something a pep talk can gloss over.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Meta knowledge that the players also may or may not find useful: Strife is also the way he is because the closest thing he got to counseling the entire time all this horrible stuff was happening was pretty much just "Suck it up, you pansy. Everyone has problems, and we've got bigger things to deal with right now." Which works for the time being, certainly, but if that's all you're told repeatedly for over six months of absolute hell... Aven did try to break this mould, but considering how short his stay was compared to the overall scope of things, this didn't help as much as it could have. And by the Vesperia arc, Cloud stopped getting help entirely, because he never talked to anyone because no one ever talked to him because he never talked to anyone, so on and so forth.
