Tell us Lynne. What do you remember...?
(and then it all comes rushing in)
(An empty, abandoned submarine, sinking into the deep sea. Nowhere to go, and nowhere to escape. All that was left, was to wait for one's death.)
(Lynne remembers this feeling, this feeling of desperation, loneliness, and sorrow. And she remembers the person who felt this. The man in red standing before her. The man who, in his desperation to live, and in his fear, pointed a gun at her.)
(She remembered his tale, how being in the wrong place at the wrong time, condemned him to an eternity of loneliness, years of regret.)
(Then, Lynne remembers what she said to him before...)
( "I think I kind of understand now...what you've been feeling these ten years.")
( "This feeling.....Cut off from the world, all alone in a submarine...Sinking slowly towards the bottom of an endless sea...This must be how you felt all along...")

"Shake the dust." - Anis Mojgani(the man in red glances over at Thaumaturge) I'm not too sure myself. (he adjusts his sunglasses) We are having a bit of a scene right now though...
...because he's not the ghost.
(she stands up and looks at the man in red) You're not Sissel.

"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiAlright, let me explain what I just remembered.
If I recall correctly, Sissel, the ghost I was travelling with, got his identity wrong. All that time, I assumed he was the man I met up, seeking information. But that turned out to be someone else...
Allow me to elaborate on that.
Huh?
Sissel's death coincided with mine. When we both died, he lost his memory, and he then saw my body, mistaking it for his own appearance. Although tehcnically, at the time I was already dead before that. It's....complicated...

"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiWell, Death's just gonna have to deal with it, right?
That's right.
...
Listen, I'm sorry I treated you so badly before...remembering what you've been through....
...Don't apologize.
Huh?
What I did was inexcusable. Everything. Not just when I pointed a gun at you.
(nods) Yeah.
How about we just reintroduce ourselves for now? Sissel is simply my alias.
You can call me Yomiel.
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiGoing back in time and saving people is all well and good, but all it takes is one bad paradox on a fixed point in time and the whole universe goes kaput.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? Some things in time can be changed. Maybe you pressing a button at the traffic lights stops someone from getting to work on time. No problem, no real impact. Maybe you help someone get their groceries into their van. No problem, no real impact. Maybe you save someone's life and they go on to live a normal life without influencing the world. No problem, no real impact. Maybe you kill someone important. Someone who would have changed the world. Big problem, big impact. Time can be rewritten, but something like that stretches it to its limits, trying to correct itself. Take a big enough thread from a quilt and the whole thing unravels.
-Glances at Death, and feels utterly ridiculous in his suit—
