And Kimba The White Lion.
Really, I always thought the LK elements in 2 were blatantly obvious parodies. You might as well say George Of The Jungle is a 'ripoff' of Tarzan then.

I dunno, they took those "parodies" pretty seriously in ME2A.

While I enjoy Madagascar I know it's not one of the best pedigrees of Dreamworks, but it wouldn't surprise me if yet another ignorant hater would magically forget a lot of Dreamworks's good movies just because this movie came out.

Oh boy, that Kimba again. I'd really wish if people where saying it's a ripoff you might as well call it Jungle Emperor Leo.
Parodies can be main plot points though.
There's a reason I didn't mention Kimba.
IMO, this sounds like the only film Dream Works is preparing at the moment with a high possibility of being bad. Everything else they have lined up sounds good (except maybe Turbo. Google it.)

Looking for some stories? The Croods will probably be worse than this one. Nicolas Cage is hit or miss, Ryan Reynolds sucks at comedy and Emma Stone is possibly the most overrated actress in Hollywood right now.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I'm amazed Ryan Reynolds is still set to star despite Green Lantern and The Change Up being major star derailing roles for him.
Usually Dream Works is good about picking relevant names for their movies but they seem to have gone the wrong direction with Ryan Reynolds and his two projects. It's sort of like if you cast Bruce Willis in a major franchise right after Hudson Hawk (though of course, Willis is far more talented than Reynolds and Hudson Hawk was misunderstood).

Dear God...I successfully predicted that they would use "Sexy and I Know It" in there....
Still not sure what to think. Dreamworks' streak of good movies might be at an end yet again. Hoping that Never Trust a Trailer applies here.
Two things to be said, however - the Penguins and Lemurs are still FTW, and Chantel DuBois looks even more awesome.

Looking for some stories? The movie looks like it will be a product of today's pop culture and appeal to the lowest common denominator.
And I'm going to love every minute of it.
One person for "sexy", one person for "and", one person for "I", one person for "know", and one person for "it".

3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541The only enjoyment I have gotten from the song was the M&M commercial which honestly made me laugh. Nothing else was enjoyable. I don't like the horribly redundant and unoriginal pop shit today. Give me some rock anyday and I'm happy. Hell, pretty much anything from pre-90's and I'm content. When a song is just yelling/talking about how disgusting their lives are, I don't enjoy it at all. so that's basically most recent pop, and almost all recent crap.
Uncreative, follow-the-leader idiots? yes.

I'm baaaaaaackSo, any predictions as to how much money this thing will gross? Because Chris Rock did brag for '"A Million Dollars".
Independently

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.

GOD, I wish people would stop saying that. The Alex plot did borrow a few elements from Lion King (power struggle, manipulation, exile and subsequent return), but most of the time it felt more parodical than just being a ripoff. Makunga, for example, is meant to resemble Scar but there was too much haminess and Lampshade Hanging in his personality to just call him a straight Expy.
Besides, Lion King ripped off Hamlet.
