Yes. And that's just how brilliant it'd be.

And then the Tyranids would roll in and have a grand old time.

I don't think the Tyranids are that big of a threat.

They are able to be defeated by Tau, after all.

Okay, they had help from Dark Eldar, big whoop.

Are you insulting the glorious Tau?

Oh, you don't know how many other Hive Fleets there are.

Isn't the whole point- that no-one knows how many there are?

Exactly.

There could be untold millions on the way.

I'm actually wondering how good the Tyranids are in regards to actual fleet capabilities.

I'm thinking if you shot them to pieces in orbit before they even got to a planet, you'd save yourself a whole load of trouble.

Hell- if the Imperium got off their arses, they might just fire exterminatus rounds at Hive ships.

Because it can't be as strong as a planet.

From what I've read, they're still dangerous while they're in space. There's a lot of acid and tendrils that just love to tear apart Imperial ships. So, it's not so easy as just lining them up and shooting.

Sure, that would probably work. Thing is, they'd probably need the Inquisition's permission.

Have you read Warriors of Ultramar?

That describes a battle agains Tyranid starships.

And it is terrifying.

Yeah.

Ah well- I just never thought of the Tyranids in the grounds of naval combat before.

[up] I have not.

Basically, and Imperial fleet of several hundred capital ships against a fleet of hundreds of thousands of Tyranid capital ships, not including the billions of smaller drones.

I'm assuming the Tyranids won.

Unless this is like some weird version of Space-Spanish Armada.

Humans only win by finding one of the first Tyranids to land, which has unmutated DNA that is closest to the Tyranid Norn Queen. They then send a Deathwatch Team into the enormous Tyranid flagship at great cost to their fleet. The Deathwatch poison the queen and she spreads the "mutation" throughout the Tyranid forces, who all drop dead from the new improvement.

That's like a long drawn-out version of the fireships.

I'm smelling inspiration from the Spanish Armada.

Too bad the other Spaniards mutated their DNA to prevent us from wiping their entire species out.
