Hey guys. Quick question.
You know how one of my classes is Scriptwriting for games? Well our assignment over the holidays is to come up with a story and a set of characters for a potential game.
I have one that I've actually been thinking of for a while.
Unfortunately, the problem is, after watching season 10 of Red Vs Blue, I've started seeing too many similarities between my story and Red Vs Blue for comfort. Do I just go with what I have and hope I get something different enough? Or should I try and change some things?
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiGive a description of the story and I'll think about it.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? So.
Backstory first.
We have a group of children hand picked and trained from young as special agents of sorts. (immediately project freelancer comes to mind)
The children's specialties are singled out and they are groomed for each of their own specialties. Some may follow the sciences fields, while others may take on the front lines as soldiers. The more combat oriented ones are also physically altered and gain unique powers through the use of mysterious relics that have been discovered all over the world. This is only one of such organizations you see, as there are multiple across the globe using different kinds of these mysterious relics.
So far, we have two unnamed main characters, who we'll call A and B. A is a somewhat hot headed, energetic young woman who, despite her personality, finds her own skills tending more towards intelligence and scientific fields. B is a more reserved, cool headed young man who finds himself on the front lines as a soldier. A also happens to serve as B's Voice with an Internet Connection. They're also really close friends.
Through details that I have yet to fully flesh out on, A slowly becomes far too eager to try and go into combat, and begins experimenting on herself with one of the relics. Needless to say, this goes horribly wrong, and through more details I have yet to fully flesh out on, many lives are taken. (possibly through A going into some kind of Uncontrollable Rage).
Cut to the main story, and we have A who has blocked out most of her memories of the incident from trauma. I have however toyed with the idea of this A being a clone of the original A created after said Uncontrollable Rampage. Despite the pain she caused, she had successfully gained the powers of the relic she experimented herself on with.
Working as a mercenary of sorts, she one day stumbles upon B, who wishes to apprehend her, whether to face her crimes, or simply to bring a friend back home.
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiAugmenting super-soldiers from childhood isn't unique to RVB. It happens in all kinds of games and movies.
If they had AIs to help them and named themselves after US States, then there'd be a problem, but this is different enough.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Yeah, although the use of relics immediately had me think of the AI's for a sec. There are vague similarities.
There's something else actually, the Cloning Blues things I have planned for A, where her original self may play an antagonistic role, is a little similar to the whole deal with Church.
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiHaving an Evil Twin goes way beyond RVB as well. Just look at the trope page for it. Just relax.

I live in a constant state of fear and misery.

I'm looking forward to messing with Clouds sanity and making him look crazy. :D
I mean he has voices in his head but I doubt he talks to them out loud.
