What? The Prequels?
They've got flaws, but so do all of the movies.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Nope.
It was the scene where a Jedi-slaughtering general of droid armies gets taken out by gungans.
Gets taken out.
By gungans.
It wasn't even played for intentional comedy.
Yes, but in a good movie, the good parts should outweigh the bad.
This isn't exactly the case in Phantom Menace/Attack Of the Clones IMO.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin. You dare dismiss Captain Carpal Tunnel's sacrifice?
Grievous was practically a comedy relief character in the early Clone Wars episodes, anyway. Hard to play up a hero-killing badass when you're not allowed to kill any characters that exist outside the show.
He manages to recover from the sickening plague of bacterium Cobracommandis in later seasons, but still. I can't remember the Seps ever winning with him in command, except in that badass Nightsister episode.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Opress killed Adi Gallia (retconning that comic issue where Grievous killed her). If they want to, they can kill characters that exist outside the show.
And while he isn't as much of a badass in TCW as he is in... pretty much everywhere else in the EU, Grievous wasn't a comic relief character. He's still a decent enough threat for the protagonists, and pretty much all anyone not Jedi master level could do against him was run.
But nope, then he got beaten up by gungans.
In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.Huh, I forgot about Adi Gallia. Now that took me by surprise. Still, Grievous has only killed characters introduced in the show, thus far.
But still, you can't deny Grievous isn't all too impressive in this series. But then again, it's actually pretty true to his character in the movies - never hesitating to flee the second he starts to lose the advantage.
I can't complain, though. This series brought Quinlan Vos in. Too bad they never did the same for A'Sharad Hett.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? That's Hayden Christiansen who says that, Spaz.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? That's always been his character. He's pragmatic. That doesn't mean that he can't be impressive as well. Grievous' Lair was a good episode relatively early on that showed Grievous being a fairly threatening villain. Killing clones while legless, killing Kit Fisto's obvious dead meat padawan...
More Quinlan Vos is always good.
Hey Spaz, there's a comic where Durge and Asajj Ventress commit genocide against gungans galore.
Read the EU.
In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.Oooh, I remember that one! With the viral agent and the quest for the cure and homygod I loved that arc.
That padawan couldn't be a more obvious Sacrificial Lion if his name was Ima Gunn Di. Oh, wait.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Yeah... that really was a great arc.
Yeah, the earlier episodes of The Clone Wars did not have the best writing. There were good episodes, but it wasn't anywhere near consistently good.
I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement that the show underwent through series though.
@Spaz: I could probably link you the pages if you like.
Although if you are actually going to start reading the EU, I cannot recommend Stover highly enough.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin. Is watching the prequels required to understand the EU? If so, fuck that shit.
@Norm: Found the video...
ah, nostalgia.
I loved the Umbara story arc! And the opening assault on Geonosis revitalised my faith in the show.
I've always held a fondness for the Separatists, and I love it when they play the threat of battle droids completely seriously as relentless killing machines. I liked how the civilian life was fleshed out for the Seps, but I do feel that they missed opportunities to have Token Good Teammate for the Seperatists to remind viewers that this is a legitimate movement, not Badguys 'r' Us.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Depends on what time you're following the EU.
Post Return of the Jedi stuff like New Jedi Order, the Thrawn books and Fate of the Jedi don't require PT knowledge.
Stuff set in the Clone Wars, like the aforementioned comic, does require some knowledge of the PT, but not a massive amount beyond "these are the basic characters, and the separatists are fighting the Republic."
Stuff set before the prequels requires no knowledge of them. Hell, you don't even need to have seen the original trilogy to understand them.
Also Matthew Stover's Revenge Of The Sith is so much better than the movie that it's ridiculous. So you can just read that instead of watching the movie.
Kind of like how Haruun Kal was portrayed in Shatterpoint IIRC. Another Stover novel.
Although while it was brilliantly written, that story is waaaay too dark for something like TCW.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.Oooh. Just remembered the Jabiim arc.
Now that was probably my favourite arc in the entire series.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Yeah, the one with all the dying padawans on the mud planet.
It was a nice story, with the Republic imposing itself on a planet instead of liberating it.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Wooo.
Yeah, it was a good story to show how there actually was a reason that people were leaving the republic.
Instead of just telling us, "everyone thinks the Republic is corrupt, which is why they're joining the war-crime committing, genocidal Seperatists."
By the way Spaz, this is the best I could find.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin."Tell him... it's over... The Battle of Jabiim is over, and we lost... we all lost."
I read the comic when I was ten, and that line still sticks in my head.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

Oh, that one was too easy!
