I feel the same way, Spazzer. I mean, I had a lot of fun today, but I can never find a moment in the FG where there's anything I can do that won't just be; (Gilda stands around) or (Watches.)
I've been taking breaks just to see if anything of interest pops up. I think reinforcing the "Everyone stays in the room most of the time" rule helped, but something's still off...
@ Stone: Why are you leaving?

IS THAT ME? AM I THE MOM?I am not sure. I think it slowly snuck up on us, but I think a major turning point was that span of two weeks where things were slow (not uncommon), so people started bringing in boss fight after boss fight to liven things up, not aware of the fact that this endless string of fighting and repetition was actually making things far worse. I honestly though the FG would die by that point, and though it did recover, I think something changed that day.

This, too.
@Stone: Why?

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistNot sure. I think relaxing might help a lot, but beyond that, I have no clue.
I also think that we should start making distinctions between character planning and event planning. Event planning leads to stagnation outside of formal RPs, as we have seen, and we told people to knock that off.
What we don't want knocked off is character planning. From what I have observed in general, you need to have a damn good idea what you want your character to be like before you drop them in so they can react to/take part in situations and have it feel natural. Failure to do this leads to either you getting stuck, the character saying/doing generic things that anyone would do, or inconsistency of reactions and personality.
Cue the ninjas.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon Alchemist- The character developing conversations. The grimdark and lighthearted ones. I liked them both, and they didn't feel forced.
Anyone remember Joshua? (No.) When he and Cloud met, the former tried to shoot the latter in the face, and Cloud tried to gut him with an icicle. But after a while, you could actually believe that they became friends.
Not what I meant. Keep it to yourself, but make sure it's actually there when the narrative causes it to be revealed.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistAdding some stuff of my own.
- The character consistency. Both development wise and usage wise. I like variety, but it just seems like no one can stick to one character for more than five pages.
- The character developing conversations. The grimdark and lighthearted ones. I liked them both, and they didn't feel forced.

IS THAT ME? AM I THE MOM?

@Olive: Oh yeah. Derp, rusty on Greek mythology. :P
@Eldy: I haven't been on enough to say.
