Honestly, I don't blame you for thinking about getting a new GM.
With the time I had previously, I wouldn't have had any trouble with G Ming the plot.
However, a fair bit of stuff happened that I don't exactly feel comfortable telling everyone who reads this thread, which led to my time being significantly reduced.
So I would have had this problem with that rule or without it.
I haven't reached the part in my plot where subplots absolutely wouldn't work though, and you might like that better than ditching my plot entirely.
I should be able to GM again in 4, 5 or so weeks, an barring other unlucky stuff like losing my Internet again, that should be fairly consistent for the next few weeks, and without gap. Hell, I might even be able to get my plot finished.
Or if you prefer, I can give you brief spoiler summary of how the plot would have turned out now.
We are? If we're going to have a conversation like that, I'll have it here.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.Finishing the Thor thing kind of depends on a few factors...
And if you are going to do the subplot with different characters, then I could freeze it at the point of the night's rest (now) and come back without too much abruptness. Or at least not any more than there would have been anyway.
If you're going to do it with the old characters then that's understandable.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.New characters separate to the plot!
I like it!
This has a whole lot of potential!
Especially if these characters can be later integrated into future plots!
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?
