Aeris's limit breaks are all really good support moves (heals the party's HP and MP, provides temporary immunity, gets rid of status problems, fills up the limit gauge automatically, et cetera), so naturally, the game isn't going to let you keep that past the first disc. She also has the highest magic stat in the game*, so she can pack some pretty good offensive power, too. Give her the Enemy Skill materia if you can. That has some stronger, all-targeting spells that Aeris can make that much more cheap. Her level 4 limit break, Great Gospel (that healing rain shit) is available relatively early on, and can obviously be lost forever, so let me know where you are so you don't miss it.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistMove her to the front row if you want to even think about doing any damage with her. Sounds stupid, but at this stage in the game, you'll have to rely on physical attacks a bit until your characters have enough MP to be able to afford to spam magic spells.
Seal Evil casts Silence and Stop (or maybe just Stop) on one enemy, and it runs out eventually. And that's assuming it works.
Actually, a good chunk of enemies in this game are immune to a lot of status effects, to the point where you'd have to constantly stop and look up what can damage what. I usually ignore them altogether. I do remember the Ruby Weapon is vulnerable to Stop (and nothing else), so that's pretty much your only shot at beating it, but Ruby's just one of those nigh-impossible bonus bosses, so you can skip that pain if you want.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistI'd like to play a Final Fantasy game, someday. Maybe if I ever start a Let's Play when school is over...
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?@Spazz: I beat The Wicked Gawd in Baten Kaitos Origins. Bring it.
@Eldritch: The overall setting is very well done, dark without being too depressing. The gameplay is fun and rather easy to understand. The characters are interesting and well-developed (insert Tifa's breasts joke here). The materia system's a little weird at first, but then again I play an RPG where all the items are freaking cards, so I can't judge. Also, Aerith-naming time. You want "Eldritch" or "Seer?"

Let the mindfuck begin...(PROTIP: Aeris knows way more than she's letting on. That should become apparent very soon.)
Mind you, considering how much I've spoiled for you all by playing Cloud, a lot of the "wham" factor will be lost forever for Random, as well as the rest of you... sorry, guys.
