I never thought Squall was as bad as people say was. He was more like an introverted kid that people keep trying to get to lighten up rather than a Brood Badass Goff What Cuts Himself."
And he does lighten up eventually.
Also Laguna is best. Everything needs more Laguna.

PM box is Closed, Indefinitely Friend Code: 3368-4181-6850You yanks need less states.
Have just a few, like us, then you can say "I've visited two-thirds of Australia's states and territories" like I can.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Swag used to be an Aussie word.
You stole it from us and corrupted its meaning.
I literally got swag for my 21st birthday, but thanks to the internet, saying so makes me sound twelve.

Well to be fair I don't think they're gonna delve into themes of C-PTSD and DID and anxiety in a kid's game, but since handling all that was the crux of Cloud's character arc taking all that out doesn't exactly leave a lot for anyone to work with, so it was kinda hastily cobbled together into "he's upset about his past which we won't ever explain what was in it" (said past also being something they probably couldn't get away with in a kids game, what with the mental illness and the child soldiers and the years of extreme torture and abuse). Cloud is upset and brooding because of Reasons. What reasons? Trust us, they're there.
And that's not even getting into what they did to poor Aerith, though I don't think threatening to rip off someone's balls could've made it into a kid's game either.
But Pirates of the Caribbean is in there so what the fuck guys
I think about the only Square character that actually made it through KH unscathed is Squall/Leon and even then it seems a bit odd they never say anything about his sister.
