Really good. Gothic Romantic sort of thing (romantic as in the literature period, not romance, though there is also some romance). Very much a Guillermo Del Toro movie, it's got his signature all over it. Lots of bugs, weird shit with eyes in odd places and missing where they should be, shit falling from the ceiling/sky in little pieces, fun knickknacks everywhere that are only onscreen for a second but make you want to buy the making of DVD so you can see them all, not overtly terrifying but really, really unnerving, in that sort of Neil Gaiman way where he excels at making you really fucking uncomfortable, really really really violent — like maybe not to the level of the opening scene in Pan's Labyrinth, but still pretty violent. Shame it seems to be playing at so few theatres.

Here.
