random star wars rambling about the upcoming movie:
I am calling it now: when the movie does come out, people will go and watch it, they will enjoy it, and people will be all "oh thank goodness it wasn't the prequels". This will cause people to overemphasise how much they love it by way of contrast. But something will feel off in a way that people can't place.
After the initial hype dies down, on reflection people will decide that while sure, it was an enjoyable movie, it wasn't on the level of the original trilogy. Most people won't really be able to place the reason as to why this is, but for most people it won't matter too much because "at least it was enjoyable and not the prequels"
It will be the second movie where the new franchise comes into its own. It will never be the Original Trilogy, the model they have set up will never produce something the same as the OT. But by the second movie they will feel like they've set up their base, set up some trust, and they can feel a bit more comfortable in creating their own movie. If that makes sense. It won't ever hit the same spots as the OT, but people will enjoy them.
also I have been avoiding trailers but the whole "Luke is the new Sith Lord ooooooh" theory I've seen inadvertently would be a really bad decision to make, and I really hope they don't go down that path
not sure why I'm posting this (probably because I am a massive star wars nerd) but there you go
