There is a science thing I am having trouble understanding, and feel stupid because of it...
Could any one who knows/is up explain it to me, really its kinda dumb.... but.
Carbon is heavier then water.
Calcium is heavier then water.
Iron is heavier then water.
Pretty much every thing humans are made out of is heavier then water, or is water...
So why do we float?
Because we're mostly water (about 70%, and iron and calcium and all those heavy minerals don't even make up a full percent even taking the skeleton into account), and our density is also about the same as water, so if we have air in our lungs we can shift that in our favour. Boats float because of their buoyancy and iron is heavier than water as well.
Which is why females float more readily than males because the female body naturally has a higher body fat index at fat is less dense and therefore more buoyant than muscle.
