Old Wallaby Jack was halfway up the track tween Jindabye and Geringong on his way to Mittagong down by the billabong, and he says to the swagman "cheers, mate, have a good one, my shout" and they down two frosty ones while sittin on the coolie while their mates Scotto and Johnno pop down to the local with the ute to get more goon.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?I went to Outback tonight for steak, which is why I asked.
They got rid of the boomerangs and pictures of kangaroos in the desert and kukri knives on the walls and replaced it with modern art deco wallpaper, which makes me very sad.
I read my dad the bit about Foster's and I think you kind of blew his mind a little bit.
no wait I can get internet here
@Norm: I think Chris was asking more for what Australia's stereotypical vision of America is.
@Chris: In my experience?
The general stereotypes are that America is arrogant, intensely patriotic. Very outgoing and loud. Freedom, guns. Everything is bigger there, to the point of being in excess. Something something bible belt. Uh... a lot more "public" than here if that makes sense.
There are more positive stereotypes too but I can't think of them right now.
I am actually intensely curious as to what they served as Aussie food.
re: dad: Hahaa, really?
I mean, we have VB which is technically a subsidiary of Fosters, but it uses different branding for a reason.

Tell him I have never seen Fosters served in a bar in my life.
I doubt most even keep it on tap.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?I... don't actually know?
Outback Steakhouse is a steakhouse. They serve primarily steak, but it's not any different than the steak at any other steakhouse.
It's mostly an upscale bar and grill sort of thing. Grilled steaks, grilled shrimp, grilled chicken, grilled fish. And they've got booze, I think, but since I don't really drink I have no idea what kind.
Probably Foster's, though, from the sound of it.

You know now that I think about it, there is absolutely fuck-all Australian about anything they serve there apart from the boomerangs they have had mounted on the walls and the commercials with the fake accents.
It's not bad food, not at all. But it suddenly occurs to me that the branding is bizarre.
I see I see
Yeah, that does sound pretty weird. I mean, we do eat steak, and it is a fairly often eaten food, but it's hardly "Australian". Really does just seem like a branding thing for a steakhouse.
On that note it really does seem odd that they're removing their Australiana. Wouldn't that just sabotage their brand?
Do they have didgeridoo music playing or anything?
