Okay so the main problem with having multiple characters is basically that Duff and Riv have to GM all of them and have something for them to do to make actually playing them entertaining.
I think something we could do in the vein of that solution is keep secondaries confined to the actual roomship for this plot. That way they're away from the action so Duff and Riv don't have to do anything with them, and they can still interact.
That's just my suggestion if you guys are dead set on this, I personally think the cleanest easiest solution is to just stop with our secondaires for this plot. Just say they're hanging out back at Room Planet.
PM box is Closed, Indefinitely Friend Code: 3368-4181-6850I mean, I guess it does help that this sort of thing happens anyway already.
Why didn't character x help out in that fight? Because their player wasn't online, and that's okay.
With that said, I really think this should be a case by case thing.
Some G Ms really might just prefer to limit to one character full stop. Because if they exist as characters, you still have to juggle. And in some respects, juggling dialogue can be much harder than juggling fights.
The important thing is just making it clear, so that people can be prepared/there's no confusion.

mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's meanGlorious leader was at work.
We used to do that anyway, but it seemed like some people had problems with doing even that. I have done this in the past and was intending to continue doing it in the future anyway, but yesterday's objection makes me think that's no longer welcome with the newer playerbase.
@Jam: And that sounds like an invitation for what I like to call thread natter. You know, the thing where ten pages of dialogue happen in the middle of a combat scene? Only now there would be absolutely nothing keeping it at bay if there are just some other people fucking around whenever.

I really just think that it should be entirely up to the GM's discretion. They know what they can handle, and what their plot will accomodate, and what will better suit the game better than a player.
If they say they want just one character each, that's that. If they say they are willing to implement a system where there is one character and one sort-of-character-who-sometimes-does-stuff then that's up to them. If they will allow two full characters, that's fine.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? If we are going to get a bit more detailed on the plot summaries....
Stating character limits.
Can we also get I don't know, statements on what limits will be applied to the characters after it is in.
Seval plots in the past have forced things on people after they were voted in, and it would be nice to know it up front instead.
@trip: It's a problem they have to fix if the plot is going to work, and a problem you have to cooperate with if you want everyone to have a good time.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

Eh.
I hate ignoring characters for any reason. If you can't handle a character with full attention, why drag them along?
