no but
it doesn't make sense in the sense that he still should be thinking, in his own head, which is private, about the fact that he did them
the fact that he is hunting a copycat killer just makes this more blatant imo
in a sense I think it would be better if he did outright lie because then you could at least run with "oh he's self deluding" even if that wouldn't make sense in a different way
instead of actually never thinking even one stray thought when it is logical for him to do so
even if david cage gave the player control over his plots, i did not find the plot or characters in heavy rain compelling in the slightest
i mean yeah its subjective but ive always felt his writing was worse than any of the game's other offenses
the comparison with until dawn and the question of "what did this game do right seems kinda like, i dunno
imagine someone made an actually good vidya game based movie and people were asking "what'd this director do correctly that Uwe Boll didn't?"
the answer would be basically "everything"
its just kinda unfortunate that david cage is basically the main guy to draw a comparison to
well there is that too
but you can still look at uwe boll's movies to see why they suck
like, the reason they suck is not because uwe boll directed them, the reason they suck comes from the fact that he directed them, but the fact that he did direct them is irrelevant to actually looking at the flaws of the movie themselves
I'm not making any sense
i have little interest in getting involved in the discussion again so if i'm not here feel free to run buck wild and dance in your satanic orgy of fire, blood, and destruction at the feet of those wicked effigies to the elder, blackened and charred things that at the dawn of time ruled humanity, slaughtering and tormenting them for sport, play, or worst of all, in the name of some inscrutable agenda of lofty ambition and reason-defying scope

the lp i watched was good
up until they decided to fuck it
deliberately let emily get murdered
and then through fuckups killed most of the cast
also i'll defend heavy rain, at least over the bit with they killer and the playing of
yes it's dishonest
but no outright lies
it all makes sense under the logic of him hunting down a copycat killer
and you can interpret all his thoughts and such in ways that mesh with what he's doing and would feel
