Probably go with Source, then.
Holy shit.
Team Four Star is doing FF7
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?I saw.
I'm concerned, as I am with anything to do with VII, because this could all too easily wind up just being another string of emo/hair/lol the sword is a dick thing jokes, and the jokes for this one didn't quite seem as nuanced as the ones from DBZ Abridged. The writers are familiar with and fond of DBZ and put a lot of passion into their jokes, and because they know the source material the setups can be pretty clever as well, with the punchlines being integrated into the events of the plot just as well as foreshadowing is for events in a story. That's why people watch DBZ Abridged — because it isn't "hahaha this show has lots of muscles and hair and screaming" because they know how fucking sick of that joke people in general, and especially fans of DBZ proper are.
I don't know how familiar they are with VII but I'm gonna guess, as has been the trend with a lot of VII parodies, "not very", and that when push comes to shove they're just gonna reach for the low-hanging fruit.
I've watched the first episode. Not too impressed, but the first episode of DBZ Abridged kinda sucked too and these guys are good at what they do, so I'll hold off on judgement for now.
TLDR: I fully expect it to suck but unlike the remake I'm at least willing to hope otherwise for this one.

Just out of interest, what kind of jokes would you appreciate?
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Literally anything but the aforementioned same three recycled jokes that I have to put up with every time I dare mention FFVII. Anything at fucking all. You have no idea how tired I am of seeing every goddamn "parody" in the world talk about "haha it's funny because the sword is unrealistically large and might be a Freudian thing"/"HAIR GEL"/"i cut myself it's funny".
The "Tifa's boobs" joke gets an honourable mention as well, even though you don't hear it as much since they redesigned her with realistic proportions (one of the few good things ACC contributed).
It's like an internet sketch show aimed at people in their twenties trying to make a joke about how people in anime have big eyes. It stopped being funny to your target audience twenty years ago. At least.
Adam Sandler's Pixels. That's the analogy I'm looking for. There you go. That's what I'm expecting.

Except it's worse because everything is Pixels. Everywhere you look for things about video games, you just get Pixels. And it's even worse because everyone for some reason thinks Pixels is the height of comedy. You wanna talk about [INSERT GOOD VIDEO GAME MOVIE HERE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE ANY ACTUALLY EXIST] and you broach the subject of video game movies and then they immediately say, "HAHA YEAH HAVE YOU WATCHED PIXELS? MAN IT'S HILARIOUS! SILLY PAC MAN! YOU CAN'T EAT DOTS IN THE REAL WORLD!" And you have to nod and smile because you don't want to admit to all these people that love their Pixels how overwrought Pixels is.
And then you try to watch another movie, but that movie is Pixels too. "Offer me something new that will appeal to my interests as a gamer!" I say. "I have just the thing for you!" says Pixels clone #704. "Look, this creature is made of squares! It is amusing!" "...Okay, yes, and?..." "...It's... squares. It's made of squares. This monkey throws barrels!"
And you just shake your head and sigh and wish you could find it in you to hope that maybe the next movie won't be Pixels. But you know better by now.

I thought it was actually kinda funny and some of the Jokes were pretty clever.
Like the bomb, Cloud being tricked into terroism, and him bragging about being in soldier.
Also I don't know what alternate reality you live in but Pixels has been slammed by everyone and their mothers.
PM box is Closed, Indefinitely Friend Code: 3368-4181-6850I know. That's why it's an analogy. In this instance, Pixels is shitty VII parodies. The analogy is supposed to make sense because Pixels is a thing you, the audience, will hopefully recognise as shite attempting to make jokes about "gamer culture" without actually providing any original thought on the matter.
Ionno. It was okay but definitely not as good as their DBZ stuff.

I watched the first episode of the machinimabridged thing this morning.
Thoughts: No idea what they're doing with Jessie, but she's a minor-enough character that they can take liberties I guess.
Barret... feels very one note at this stage. Sure there hasn't been enough time for me to really know that, and one-note characters can be funny regardless, but at this stage it does feel like "he is mr t who swears" is the sole joke they have for him.
Cloud feels like a real departure in basically every way. It's a departure in a direction I wasn't expecting, which is good, but... when it comes to abridged series, the best ones always seem to play up actual aspects of the characters/the inherent silliness of the setting. DBZ is very big on the former, YGOTAS is very big on the latter, although both do both. Still, taking some of his lines on their own merits they weren't awful.
it feels very... B-team, I guess?
Very much a "side project" if that makes sense. Also that they're trying a little too hard given the shoes they're trying to fill (gotta live up to both the T 4 S name and FF 7, particularly in the wake of the HD remake announcement which I originally thought they were cashing in on but apparently not).
There were some decidedly well timed lines, like the whole spin on the tutorial battle.
There were some poor lines too, like basically the entirety of the tutorial bossfight.
It's better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick, but...
Don't know what to think of it at this stage, I'll reserve judgement.

either should be fine, source has a better physics engine and gwaffics
