Throughout the course of American history, it’s shown that some economic systems work better than others. For example, under Bill Clinton the country saw substantial economic growth, while under George H.W. Bush the country was brought into a recession. With that in mind, besides ideologies, why do some people prefer systems like Bush’s (ie Reaganomics, Return to Normalcy, etc.) when it is shown that sometimes these systems work worse than others?
What, if any exists, is the difference between laissez-faire economics and free market economics?
When people critique places like Mc Donalds, they often say it is a jack of all trades and a master of none. They want specialization from them in a specific area, but (and I’m not addressing the quality of these food items) isn’t having something for everyone a good thing? If not, why?
Some video game publishers often, nowadays, offer so-called “microtransactions” in their fully-priced sixty dollar releases. They are, as defined by Wikipedia, “a business model where users can purchase virtual goods via micropayments.” They can range from cosmetic — say, a costume for a protagonist — to major — like something that lets you skip parts of the game. Many decry these as typical corporate greed, since microtransactions originate from free smartphone games. The publishers will defend this practice by saying it is optional, but the intent to have you purchase is still there, even affecting the subconscious, even if one doesn’t wish to buy them. What is the incentive for these microtransactions, and if consumers wanted them gone, would it take a revolution in the way they view these sixty dollar video games?
