you know
it's really bizarre for me what happened to the word canon
it's modern usage spawned from the religious usage, but I'd wager that for most people today, at least in nerdier circles, it's more well known as "what works of a fiction 'really happened' ", the separator from fanfiction
and that's the context you most often see it in
now whenever I see it in a religious context it just feels weird
Some people start with the Old Testament, but New Testament is where the series hits its stride. Old Testament started out great, but then the Exodus Arc dragged on and on and from that point onward it just loses all its spark.
Newcomers should start with New Testament and then ease into Old if they really like the style.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Holy fuck.
They weren't just playing Vocaloid at that sushi restaurant. I just realised. There was this one song that was actually a person singing and I thought I had heard it before from some anime but I couldn't place it.
I've been tabbing back and forth, and I came across this gif
◊, and it hit me.

But Norm, how will New make sense without the foreshadowing of Old?! Geez, New is such a gateway arc. TRUE FANS read all the apocrypha too.
@Tats: Good luck. Are they going to be people you know, or strangers?
Well that's some dignity restored.
The movie looks cool, what is it?
wait shit that's a ghibli film
why don't I know about it

Because Studio Ghibli produced it, but Miyazaki didn't write this one personally so it's not "officially" one of his. It's based off a manga I've never read but the movie itself is pretty decent even if the moral is literally "believe in yourself".
This girl saves a cat from being hit by a truck, and it turns out the cat was cat royalty, and the cats start going to extreme lengths to reward her. Also there's a talking cat statue thing. I'd recommend giving it a watch just because Ghibli. Who knows, maybe I'll stream it. I think I have a DVD lying around somewhere.
But hey it's got a little girl in it that's not sexualised so

I am talking about anime in general. Yes Ghibli generally doesn't do that but it still kind of amazes me to this day that they haven't stooped that low yet as tempting as it would be, so yes it is. There are a lot of companies that I thought would be above doing that that eventually caved at the prospect of all that grubby otaku cash after all. (SQUARE.)

@Mega: Really.
@Jam: Not a strand of DNA.
