i'm screaming right now one of my favorite artists i follow on tumblr that i put on a huge pedestal barely updates so they feel so distant and mysterious to me and all of a sudden he goes on a shitposting art spree and reveals he's just a shitposting deer furry like me and he can see me freaking out because we're mutuals for some reason this is hell
DeerFor those of you who aren't on the Guilty Gear hype train, this is what you're missing out on.
here comes my bias
I imagine you and your friend are considering these games mostly because you wanna play each other. So that depends on what you want.
Blaz Blue, at the moment, is a little better for messing around with at parties or get-togethers due to the Stylish mode button layout (where you tap a single button to get combos out, and special moves are assigned to another button, etc.), so it's, in my opinion, easier to jump into and do your thing.
If you wanna have some serious matches, I feel Guilty Gear does a better job of teaching and encouraging fighting game fundamentals. Although, REVELATOR is getting a similar Stylish button layout, but the console release for that is way in the future.
If we're talking aesthetic and other details, Blaz Blue's got the larger roster and character variety (unless you count the older Guilty Gears which have an equal amount), while I feel Guilty Gear has the stronger aesthetic sense, plus Xrd just looks a whole lot prettier.
Personally? I'll tell you to go get Guilty Gear Xrd. Even with the lack of an easier button layout, it's not hard to mess around with, and I also feel it's better for learning how to get serious in fighting games.
