@ Box: Clipping through floors and floating batmobiles, oh my!
Here's hoping I don't have the same experience with DMC 4 SE.
@ Jam: The one time microtransactions can be considered acceptable is when they mainly sell completely superficial things. Costumes, special models for existing items, music, etc, things that you don't need to get a decent experience out of the game. I feel your pain bro.

When to unlock something in a game you didn't pay for it.
You used you skill and ingenuity to find secrets, beat superbosses, find the just right combonation of things to unlock that cool sword, or character, or gun, or golden kangaroo launcher, you can brag to your friends about.
Now.
Not so much.

Dirge of Cerberus "works".
Shitty copy and paste Steam Greenlight Unity Bullshit "works".
You got your game to run on the platform its supposed to run on congradufuckinglations!
Did you make a quality product that will appeal to your fans and your general core audience? No? Then you're just a parasite.

Fine.

SO ANYWAY!
Dirty Bomb is a game that's....pretty much Counterstike when I think about it. You have people trying to blow up stuff and people trying to keep that from happening.
BUT!
Its F 2 P which means. MICROTRANSACTIONS!
And boy does Dirty Bomb get you with microtransactions. See you can buy stuff ingame with either in game currency, Gold, or with real cash. Probably the least expensive thing in the shop is about 1000G. And it gets up to the tens of thoudsands needed to get something. And for each match you play, about 10mins each. You get 100~150G if you're balls out amazing at the game.
But here's the real kicker. Most of those microtransactions are gonna come in the form of card packs. Each pack essentially spins a roulette and gives you one card ranging in general usefulness, and rarity, from Lead, to Iron, to Bronze, then Silver, Gold, and Cobalt being the rarest. And what do you get for these cards? Loadouts. You get different guns and slightly different color pallets.
But the RNG is fixed to go towards lead most of the time. Even if it looks like you're about to land on a gold or a cobalt, if a lead is right next to it, it will give you the lead nine times out of ten. So you're either gonna wind up playing the game for an hour for a single horrible chance at a good card. Or cave in and by elite packs, which remove the three most common card types, for about 5USD each. And even then elite packs aren't guaranteed a gold. They're rigged to go to Silver most of the time.
The game either wants you to waste all of your time on a rather small chance of getting something good, or all of your money for a chance to unlock something useful.
Its a rather mediocre shooter as well.
