Medieval 2 doesn't have co-op campaign.
But, it depends on what time period you go.
I mean- Napoleon Total War is better than Empire Total War mechanically, but campaign-wise Empire has a lot more scope to it.
But Empire Total War doesn't have a co-op campaign.
Napoleon does.
Shogun 2 Total War is also good, and does have a co-op campaign.
If the gold edition's on sale, get it. Because then that can encompass both the 19th century tactics and the vanilla games'
Plus, Shogun 2 Total War was done excellently.

Except Rome 2 at launch didn't do so well for some people because of the hype and all the changes to the politics system.
And let-downs in the AI.
