"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Please come back so we can have a life at last
Please come back, I grab at heaven’s throat
Please come back, I beckon, beg and cry and laugh
Come to me, I’m summoning the ghost
Please come back from bowels of black
From silent shores to me once more
Through veils and gates and seas of slate
To blood wet moors where I await ashore
perhaps it's not a furry cape and it's just her hairy ass
it's a cheap way of elongating your earlobes
also she looks like a rasta jamaican man
Just
why
Crisis Core was bad because it was rushed and they hastily crammed the thing full of Genesis Gacktsodus when he really had no place existing past the first act at all. It had good ideas that were implemented poorly and could have been really good if they had actually given a shit. I'm all for fleshing out Zack's personality beyond "plot device that is there to die". I am not for a badly-written passing-of-the-torch scene that is in literally everything with a dead older brother figure ever that basically screams ARE YOU SAD YET? WE'RE PLAYING SAD MUSIC AND CLOUD LOOKS SAD BE SAD NOW. I am all for explaining how Zack was trained, and for humanising Sephiroth with some war buddies of his (since the primary things that made him interesting in the original game were the way he manipulated Jenova and Cloud and Tifa and basically everyone — he isn't particularly interesting and doesn't have much substance if you take that away). I am not for having DREAMS HONOUR DREAMS HONOUR HONOUR DREAMS MONSTER ANGEL DREAMS HONOUR ANGEL beaten into my head in some slapdash attempt at philosophy. Or something. I am all for showing a bit more of Cloud and Zack's friendship (remember Cloud? He was like a main character or something, I hear). I am not for one awkwardly-written conversation before he gets shoved back in the spares corner because he's been made completely irrelevant to everything, especially considering how important it was in the original game his ties to the events before and after Nibelheim were.
I am also not a fan of why the fuck Minerva needs to exist. The Planet was cool as an unknowably old, alien entity that humans have pissed off and need to be mindful of since they're also a part of it as much as it's a part of them. It didn't need to be another generic mother goddess figure.
Crisis Core had a lot going for it, but it was sloppily executed and felt really rushed and pandery, and took itself way too seriously, so it wound up a bit joyless. And kinda spoiled the game for anyone who actually wanted to play it. That too.
...Dirge, though... Dirge of Cerberus had nothing going for it. The characters were bad. The story was dumb. The designs were stupid. The themes were trite. The retcons were numerous and hideous. The humour never failed to fall flat. The gameplay, the most important part, was lousy and repetitive. The graphics — not the in-game ones, I don't care about those, but even the pre-rendered CGI — were piss-poor. The soundtrack was obnoxious because Nobuo Uematsu has a brain and didn't go anywhere near this thing.
