Hello!
Okay, first of all, and most importantly, I want you to remember this: it's a game, and we're all here to have fun. I don't mean that in the "you put too much thought into this" way. I'm a writer, putting too much thought into shit is what I do for fun, and I know a lot of you do it, too. I mean in the "don't feel obligated to do anything" sort of way. We're probably about as free-form as it's gonna get, as far as characters go. I know jack shit about Rebellion, so maybe I'm interpreting this wrong, but... Don't like a character arc that happened in canon? Say "it's like this but X". We do it all the time with things we do like just for shiggles, not to mention things people refuse to acknowledge for much the same reason (Alien 3, Matrix Revolutions, Dirge of Fucking Cerberus). If you didn't want to reconcile Rebellion, you didn't have to. Handwave it with an AU or something. We've got no problem with that stuff. Exercises in writing can be just that — exercises.
It wasn't selfish, but I think maybe you painted yourself into a corner without realising there was a door behind you the whole time, if that makes sense.
I'm tired and will respond to the rest of that properly later, but I do want to stress this.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistCloud ain't getting a Stand.
What the fuck would he need a Stand for, and what would I do with it anyway? He already has a Geass I keep forgetting about and was gonna do a thing with but now I can't remember what because it was years ago. He doesn't need a Stand too.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistYeah, dude, what she said is spot-on. Using my own whatnot as an example, Breen would not ever have had the character arc he had here in Half-Life canon, no fuggin' way. I know it's best to be as IC as possible, but a little artistic license never hurt anyone.
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019I suppose this is true.
It just kinda feels like overkill, though. I mean, he's already basically the Lifestream incarnate (though that's less an ability and more of a plotbunny thing), and he's already pretty fucking lethal from canon alone, because of the whole virus-human hybrid bioweapon thing.
Also he is armed quite literally to the teeth. And has a pants-rifle. (HURR HURR)
And the Geass I keep forgetting about.
And the thing that I am going to do as soon as one of you steps up to bat and sets it off (though that isn't a power either, but still another thing to keep track of).
He'd have the Stand, sure, but he would never ever need to use it. It would just be a wasted event. It would be just as productive to brainstorm about what his Stand would be like if he had one in the discussion thread.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistI probably won't be giving either of my characters Stands. Archer's already got a "crazy out there" ability in his sword projection - he can do enough tricks and shit with that one single ability. And what would Optimus' Stand look like, exactly? Would it be as tall as him and be able to transform?
...Actually, that would be kinda awesome. Still hesitant about it though.
"I can control poles." "Whoa... You mean like the arctic?"
