Not sure if she's still here.
Do you mean writing in general or in RP format?
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Still here.
Was distracted by Gravity Falls, which I have just now started watching.
Really, though, I'm not particularly good at fights. At least, not in the play-by-post sense. I do preplanned shit.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistFrom my time in the arena, I can tell you that in an RP the most important thing is the attitude of those getting into it.
Like the gladiator battles of old, the most memorable ones were the ones where the two battlers put on a spectacle, rather than hacking into one another as fast as possible. That way, the crowd would be more likely to spare the loser in the hopes of another fight like that.
Same in an RP. All players should take action based on what would make the fight interesting, rather than what would necessarily be the most effective way to fight.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? What Norm said. My favorite fights in the Arena weren't the ones where people tried to win as quickly as they can - it's the ones where people show off, have fun, make a show, and that can make entertaining stories when you decide to archive binge through them.

Sure, though it helps.
My favourite battle in the arena was with Agent Texas. She was critically wounded in a preceding fight and battling Metal Gear Revengeance's Mistral who pretty much toyed with her the whole time. It was actually kind of fun being in such a one sided fight, getting the shit kicked out of my character, only to lull the opponent into a false sense of security and striking back.
Both me and the other player dealt with our one on one fights more as a performance than trying to kill one another off asap.
Lemme find it.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Based on that, Norm, Medicine is the worst for fighting outside of winning, while Krissy would probably be my most effective (his job is to put on a show, so...).
I will keep that in mind, to try and be flashy... To an extent.
And it's so easy when you're evil... This is the life for me, the Devil tips his hat to me...Supporting. The way I see it, in an RP fight, as well as in some other games involving fighting, it's actually a cooperative activity between the players - you're all cooperating to make an epic fight scene. In the Arena, for example, IDC who wins or loses - as long as the battle is epic, and the death, if there is one, is Rasputinian or otherwise a Dying Moment of Awesome. (Or Trolldoka.)
Also, one little thing: I'd say don't just use attack names ("Mami used Tiro Finale"; last time I checked, she ain't a Pokémon...), also include a description of it. Both for people who don't know the source material, and to add to the "visuals". If speed is your concern, write the attack name in your first post, and then edit in the description.

"We can handle what is true, for we are already living it."Of course, once we start getting four or five guys in on the one fight it gets dicey.
So if you insist on starting a fight with that many potential participants, then take precautions. If there's a risk of dogpiling, find some way to even the playing field, like some sort of attack that weakens or disables some of the opponents. Even if it's just knocking them flat.
And for those doing the dogpiling, don't be afraid to slow down and even sit back to avoid a confusion. In real life melee, having that many guys on one is as much danger to the attackers than the victim.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Micool, you were there to see some of my favorite moments in the Arena. Homura exerting all her power to help take down Cyberna? Archer laying out the seeds of a gambit to play Aizen for the fool? Neither of those ended with my characters standing over their enemy in victory, but they were undoubtedly very fun to write.
Also, yeah. I'm not sure where I stand on that dogpile issue right now, especially in the Room.

I also try to escalate my attacks to the situation - think like a Shounen. You open with something fairly vanilla, then you start using your special attacks, which leads into an escalating spiral of I Am Not Left-Handed / Godzilla Threshold meaning using stronger attacks / maybe start going into Super Mode or Dangerous Forbidden Technique territory if the fight's that serious and your opponent's that strong. Etc.
I was Cyberna, remember? I was also there for the beginning of Archer vs. Aizen (as Orochimaru), but I backed out 'cause I didn't know those characters, didn't know Orochimaru's best moves well enough, and didn't feel up to it.
Also, didn't that end with Archer getting punk'd by Ragyou?
