So, my parents currently have one car between them, and they're increasing finding that they need a second one because of their schedules. They're pushing me to buy a new car within the next week or two so that they can take possession of the minivan I currently have.
On one hand, I really don't want to deal with the hassle of getting a new car and I can't bargain my way out of a paper bag (I live in fear of the car dealer even when I'm not the one buying). On the other hand, right now is supposedly the best time to get a new car because dealers are in need to clearing inventory to prepare for the upcoming year's models - I am told that by July 4th weekend everything's gone - and I could probably get them to at least front most of the cost since they're the ones wanting the car, not me.
Should I go for it?
The damned queen and the relentless knight.I'd guess that one of the more important things is if you can easily afford (or just at all) getting a new car. It'd probably be a bad idea to go for it if you don't have the money at the moment, but you don't need me to tell you that; that's common sense.
Assuming you can afford it, I suppose it's a matter of weighing your options. Is a new car worth the hassle and trouble of going to the dealer? I don't think I can really answer that for you. I'm not you, after all.
My instincts tell me "new car, yay, go for it," but then again I'm too young to have had experience in buying a car. And also, going off of your gut feeling with something like this is most likely inadvisable.
So... maybe, is my answer.
Oh you, Prom.
