@Trip: "Yes, yes, this is why things were better when we lived in segregated neighbourhoods."
My mother went to a costume party for Halloween last year at this country club.
Not a damn thing has changed. There were at least six people in blackface. Her and this other guy were the only non-white people there.
She lost, eventually, to one of the guys in blackface dressed as the Old Spice man.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistI would, if I had that kind of money. Which I don't and probably never will.
Kansas is a sinkhole. You're born here, you grow up here, you get old here, you die here. Nobody even cares about what goes on in real cities. I've overheard conversations between parents talking about why anyone would want to go anywhere else, because we have everything right here. No joke.
The mentality around here is poisonous and very, very narrow. It likes to pretend it's all progressive and shit, but it's as steryotypical and backwards a place as I've ever seen.
I got sent to the office once for professing an interest in knives and drawing one (not even stabbing anyone, either, just a decorative blade with a crane on it), and when I tried to join woodshop I spent an hour debating with a counselor trying to shove me into home ec (which I would up having to take anyway) since it would "prepare me better for the life I'd have one day" or some bullshit like that. I wound up being the only girl in the class and spent the rest of the year being called a dyke and putting up with various dick jokes and having wood chips dropped down the back of my pants. Though I think the latter two are just a teenage COD-playing guy thing.
And that's not even getting started on Chinese again... though I hear half those kids didn't even graduate. So I guess karma does exist, kind of.
It's late and I'm rambling. Blargh.

Wait, I'm not racist.
Oh my god, a black man from outer space!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? The working man's a sucker, that's for damn sure.
So far- A Study in Scarlet is pretty interesting.
Although it is... a little poorly written. In how it does exposition.
And the entire paragraphs just writing down what someone looks like.
Hence the reason for the return of Herlock Sholmes.
