Really? They fit my perception perfectly, and really nailed a lot of the lines.
The only good thing the Golden Compass movie got right was removing all that anti-Catholic author ranting and making it a bit more subtle.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."The problem with the Golden Compass is that A) it is, at its core, anti-religion. You can't take that out, it's a vital part of the series. Though by book 3 they were beating you over the head with it (what is it with Third Ones?). Thing is, anti-religion stuff is not going to go over well in the States.
Because of this, B), they marketed it very poorly, as a young children's fantasy adventure, like Narnia. It went downhill from there.
A lot of movies that could've been good have been killed by their marketing. Spirits Within, Titan AE...

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistI liked the Golden Compass and the Subtle Knife. The Amber Spyglass was too preachy and sort of forgot there was a war going on in the background, as Third Ones are wont to do.
It's not propaganda. Not until book 3, anyway. By that logic, the Chronicles of Narnia are Christian propaganda. You can't call everything that takes a pro-religious stance religious propaganda, and everything that takes an anti-religious stance anti-religious propaganda.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon Alchemisti call everything that has any strong stance on anything propaganda because i read things to be entertained not preached at

Sorry, Spaz, I gotta go with Duff here. I watched the film an hour ago and just loved the whole thing to death. You cannot reason with me in my post-fanboy catatonia.
