Finding good help shouldn't be hard, but this is a field that tends to attract the terminally lazy and the tragically dumb. XD You may have to figure it out yourself and be the first to write a decent tutorial.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistNew ones? Got any pics for those of us not connected to the grape vine?
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Mostly because the software just kind of assumes you know what you're doing, like the tutorials.
Here's the script editor in question.
◊
Does this make any sense to you guys? Because I don't really have any feedback to work with, and punching in random numbers doesn't help me accomplish anything either.
This is with the ROM loaded.
Here's a tutorial.
Maybe this is beautifully written, but it doesn't seem like it's telling me things I need to know to get this done. How does the game decide what happens after which thing? Is there a specific sequence? How do you not get events to trigger endlessly over and over again, like I've seen in a lot of bad hacks? I know there are certain things that only happen after certain events but damned if you're gonna tell me what the markers are for those. Good luck guessing! Oh and don't think we're gonna tell you where anything is stored, either, because we totally aren't.
Here's what the game looks like, at least, after I imported some tilesets from Emerald into Sapphire.
◊ Emerald had nicer graphics, even if I didn't care for what they did with the Legendaries.
Keep in mind that this does not always work.
I kind of broke Verdanturf, too.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistOh, and did I mention everything is in German, even after I set the language repeatedly to English?
As far as that tutorial goes, it looks like it only explains events prompted by the (A) button (I'm inferring). So picking up items, reading signs, talking to NPCs. That would account for when things happen relative to one another, if I'm right. To keep something from happening again and again, I would assume there's a way to set a flag variable. Like if you want someone to say one message the first time you talk, and something else each consequent time, the script might be (If flag is not set: Set flag, display first message. Else if flag is set: display second message). Seems you choose where to store your scripts, and access them by using the editor to attach the address of the relevant script to the square or NPC that triggers it. As best as I can tell. I could be way off. XD

make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019I figured that, but the problem is there's no telling where to put this stuff. Does the outset it's at matter? Will it slow down the game if it's too fragmented and all over the place? You can't really defrag a GBA rom. And what about events that require multiple bits working in tandem, like a scripted fight? How would I get events happening within events?
I know these questions are probably really easily answered, but I guess I'm just not very good with written instruction. I dunno.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistYou win points for giving a damn about speed. XD
You're asking questions they either didn't expect at all, or didn't put in the level 1 tutorial. I'll read through the rest sometime soon and see if I can clear anything up; I've been on a Pokémon programming research spree anyway.
"I'm not a nerd. I'm a specialist." ~Sousuke SagaraI don't think size will be a problem. The biggest ROM I have is Chain of Memories, which is sitting at a hefty (for a ROM, anyway) thirty-two megs and still runs fine. And even then I might not have to outright add that much, considering how much unused dev stuff is sitting around on these things that I could potentially overwrite.

I suppose that makes sense, I guess.
I know stuff like this is possible (Pokemon Glazed is basically the ruler upon which all Pokemon hacks should be measured, it's so well put-together), but Christ is it hard to pull off.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistIs Atwar free?
@Egg: Thanks again for helping me with all this, by the way. Cannot emphasise my gratitude enough.
On an unrelated note, our neighbour's German shepherd is really sick, and the poor thing has been howling and crying and barking all day. Makes it very hard to focus. Hope she's okay.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon Alchemist

Sweet.
I swear, one of these days I'm gonna find someone that can explain how to use the dozens of tools I have in a way that makes sense.
There's an entire goddamn bundle of them. This shouldn't be that hard.
If some twelve year-old with a couple free weekends can figure this out, then so can I.
