I've basically mastered the whole save porting thing (the main snag was that block 01 can't be transfered between Ruby & Sapphire and Emerald & Leaf Green & Fire Red, due to the fact that they've encrypted and added new items following Ruby and Sapphire [especially for Emerald, from what I've. Read the encryption key is entirely random], so you have to dump all your Pokémon in the PC and have something disposable in your party prior to transfering). Main thing is just finding a way to make it automatic so people who didn't spend six months figuring out little endian checksums can do it too.
Problem is, now I've moved onto the meat of the project — scripting events and such. And every change I make either does nothing or causes the game to not load. The tutorials I've found have been less than helpful (by which I mean not helpful at all), and the one person I did get in touch with wasn't really sure what she was doing, from what I heard.
Tile editing has gone slightly better — I can now kiiiinda import and edit tilesets (as long as they aren't meant to be animated, because that screws it up), but as for editing functions and actually making maps, I'm still not quite sure how to handle things, mostly because I just can't script, and the first step is finding a good outset to put it at (and I have no idea what that would be) and then figuring how to splice it next to an existing map.
And as for importing music, there's been zero progress on that. I have midi files and instructions, but unfortunately Sappy was released in 2006 and does not work properly, and since a patch has not been created in almost 9 years I don't think it's gonna start working any time soon either. I've decided to leave music for last.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistMore specifically, what I'm working on requires a lot of waiting time whenever I want to test it, so I'm not losing any productivity. XD
Oh good; I'd been avoiding bringing up the bit I was writing for you, in case the project was a sore point for you. XD Shall I go ahead and polish it off?

"I'm not a nerd. I'm a specialist." ~Sousuke SagaraNah, it's no problem. That would be great. Again, thanks so much for doing this.
If I'm grumpy about this, it's just because of the scores of useless tutorials that don't really tell me anything I need to know in a way I understand it.
I think the problem is most of them just assume you want to make a straightforward hack — just outright replacing all the stuff in the original game. I want to add onto the game, leaving the original stuff alone, and there really isn't an end you can identify to start adding stuff after. I think it all has to do with what outset stuff is stored at, but then my head starts hurting and I go back to tile importing. (Am I just supposed to have every single one of the thousands upon thousands of outsets memorised? Christ.)
