I always do research on things before I buy them
It's always a good idea to get multiple sources and get contrasting views
This also prevents um
hype-backlash
Like sorry people, it's kind of sort of your fault for pre-ordering a game that you had no clue was going to be good or not and then getting burnt. There's literally no reason not to wait other than impatience or bullshit pre-order bonuses... which are only there because so many of us keep pre-ordering games. STOP PRE-ORDERING GAMES.
War is God.@ Prom : I worked in that industry, if you don't pre-order, we don't get games.
Its one reason mom and pop stores don't have new games, so while that sounds like good advice, your just screwing every one by following it.
1 shelf copy for every 2 pre-orders, unless its Nintnendo then you dont get a shelf coppy unless you have 8 preorders.

The market is controlled by producer and consumer. The producer only puts out what's in demand with supply in check.
I don't pre-order games simply because it's an unnecessary risk that gives me no benefit otherwise. Fuck pre-order bonuses, it's just a way for some of these companies to shit out mediocre titles and give more incentive for eager people to buy them before they know better.
War is God.i find it hard to hate game journalism because i have fond childhood memories of reading the spanish version of nintendo power (which i believe is still going, suck it americans)
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."It's a fairly cutthroat business from what I've read, as a lot of journalism can be.
I love games, but GOD... sometimes it's just better to
not put out death threats and shit
Why is it that so many of us seem to think that
"hmm... how can I persuade him or her to accept my worldview... OH! I KNOW! I'LL SAY THAT I'LL BURN THEIR CHILDREN AND EAT THEIR HOUSE AND RAPE THEIR DOG!"
War is God.Well
Aliens: Colonial Marines
is a pretty good exception
But yeah, anecdotes aside, even if there's a good chance that the product is good, YOU WON'T KNOW UNTIL IT'S ACTUALLY ON THE SHELVES AND HAS BEEN EVALUATED BY THE PRESS.
It's a gamble, and it's an unnecessary gamble designed to line the pockets of people who don't really give a shit.
Well, this is true, but it's unsettling to know that one can receive a death threat for something as insipid as a slightly below-average review score.

War is God.yup i've checked and the spanish nintendo power is still going
though apparently the uk version is shutting down soon
i fear for its safety
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I haven't owned a Nintendo console since
N64
I want a Wii because of the exclusives but I despise motion controls
@Duff I wouldn't really care either, I'd probably find it amusing, but what possesses some people to threaten someone's life for something that stupid

War is God.

There's a pretty good reason why gamers are commonly looked down upon as a sub-culture
well
there are several good reasons
and if I was an outside observer, this kind of shit would just make me more cynical
"What the hell is up these people's asses? Don't they have anything better to do than be malicious twats about their consumed media?"
But at the same time, I think that consumers of media have a right to assert their ability to have quality products and honest service
It's like... on one hand I think they're right but on the other I don't
