Wouldn't know how you'd go about sexing a bird like that. With baby chicks, you gotta look, uhhhh, where the sun don't shine, and black feathers probably wouldn't make that easy.

I dunno why people act like the poem is frightening... it's melancholic, it's depressing, it's just some guy miserable now that his lover is gone and the raven is just telling him what he already knows
War is God.He's also projecting onto the bird, since that's all it knows how to say, and some part of him knows that's all it knows how to say, but he's making himself more miserable in the process anyway.
Though I wonder who owned the bird before that. They must have been an asshole. Or cancelled a lot of appointments.
