Preemptive thread for this, as what it is will apparently be announced this Wednesday.

I doubt it'll be a reboot.

There's a big difference between a character sitting on two teams and rebooting continuity though.

Oh boy, another event that will end with a clusterfuck fight, and ultimately, nothing will really change.

I think I'd be a little bit more interested if they didn't shit all over Nova and his fans just to tease the next dumb event.

So Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Fear Itself and now this. So, are we ever gonna get the chance to just relax and breath Marvel? You know, take in some of those big changes that those other events were supposed to have caused?

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

On the one hand, Aaron and Hickman. On the other hand, Fraction and Bendis (Bendis? Yes, Bendis. Bendis is writing this? Yes, Bendis is writing this. You're sure Bendis is writing this? Yes, Bendis is.). Aaron is listed first, so we can hope he's the main writer.

You forgot Schism and Spider Island.

But we are already sitting in and dealing with the "big changes" from Schism and Spider Island (which didn't really change much except undoing a few things from OMD and BND)

Title and details seem to have been announced a day early, and it's got the rather generic-sounding name of "Avengers vs. X-Men." It will apparently have a theme of "destruction and rebirth," which I hope doesn't mean a reboot...

Honestly it sounds more like undoing the effects of M-Day and causing havoc more than anything like a reboot.

Apparently Hope is going to be the next host of the phoenix force and the X-men want to groom her while the Avengers want to contain her.

Honestly, I think this will have a lot of writing around power levels*

Bump

[up] Just be thankful that it isn't DBZ as it is mostly nothing but power levels. But I digress, it is not bad as I said especially when you can talk about theoretical events and see possibilities that you couldn't see in canon.

Not really what I mean. DBZ doesn't really writes around power levels, it fully embraces them. The fights are normally completely one-sided, with one opponent clearly dominating the other.

What I want to say it that the writers will try not to have one hero clearly dominating the other one, because that will make them look bad.

Not turning this into a vs-thread, but the Avengers tend to face and win against bigger villains then the X-men, so my fear is that they will write around direct confrontations, with a healthy dose of Worf Had The Flue.
