I want evidence that this is a bad thing, as the tone implies.
Also, the whole Darth Vader redemption argument is based on the prequels, which were not out at the time. While this works against the series as a whole, I think it's dishonest to punish a movie for the sins of the prequels.
Edit: Upon further inspection, the author of these articles is a total piece of fuck, attributing what might legitimately be considered wider social issues to Star Wars individually, as if a American 70s sci-fi should live up to standards of equivalence that most modern films fail to. While some logic errors and plot holes are legitimate, this seems like a case of pet hate more than anything.
This would all make sense if the author was a black, female feminist of the man-hating, white-begrudging type. If the author's a white male, this takes self-loathing and inherited guilt to hilarious levels. You can mix and match those descriptors for whatever the author happens to actually be.

Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchUmm... well, yeah... Sure. Star Wars is racist, sexist, and more concerned with evoking and pacing emotions in the audience than in the movie characters. Nothing new under the death star, there.
One point I did find interesting in that article, though, because I'd never seen it that way before, is that the Force is actually ridiculous compare to the technological powers that its adherents regularly shun. It reflects a lot of attitudes towards mysticism and religion found in Real Life.
P.S.: Note to the original author (I think I'll actually put this comment on his blog): Never, ever, EVER start a rant about a well-known movie with a three-pages-long plot synopsis. Not if it's as well known as Star Wars, at least. Everybody knows the story, those who don't can easily look it up. If you feel you HAVE to give a synopsis, at least, please, keep it short and entertaining. This one was extremely dull and tedious, and made me not want to read any further.
There's the ventilation shaft in the first Death Star that Luke shot a proton torpedo down, there's that cave on Dagoba, there's the cave on the asteroid where the Millenium Falcon almost got eaten by a space worm, there's the huge shafts on the second Death Star leading right to its reactor core...
Do all those seemingly-bottomless pits (like the one the Emperor got tossed down) count as holes?
No, because the author is just nitpicking.
If you're going to overanalyze Star Wars, at least pick something like Episode III, where Obi-Wan claims "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" despite the fact being a Jedi who is predisposed to fight anyone who deals in absolutes is, in itself, an absolute.

Teens dress as Batman to catch pedophiles; cops not impressedSure, it would've sounded better if he said "Only a Sith deals in such absolutes", but it's not as hypocritical as people make it out to be.
None of those articles pointed out plot holes, they attacked the plot for being inherently bad and stomach churning, not for its inconsistencies. While Star Wars did not give me the same "this movie hates me" feeling it is far from perfect. I've posted my thought on other threads.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackIf you want to know what what's wrong about star wars from an actual plot/filming/writing standpoint, watch Mr. Plinkett's reviews on the new trilogy (some people don't think the actual style of these videos is funny, but the critique is very good and so depressingly true).

The amount of snark in this thread is reaching a critical mass.
But seriously, these reviews bring up some intriguing theories, but the majority of it is overly-analytic. I know that sounds really insipid, especially on a site such as this, but it's hard to think anyone would take these claims to heart so much so as to distort their view of the films. Also, they don't really point out any plot holes, they just kind of attack the films.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.I have to wonder how Star Wars can be racist, when the good guys are the side with all the aliens, as well as the only human minority character ( after Lando joined the rebellion, and he only helped the Empire because he *didn;t have a choice* ), while the bad guys are largely white guys with British accents and Nazi-esque uniforms who oppress all non-humans.

I was wondering how accurate the charges of illogic were or if the author were full of shit.
